Monetizing Kids Doing Class/Homework

I have a couple of sites which are very popular with kids doing homework or schoolwork. For example a lot of teachers recommend these sites as a place where students can find information for their homework assignments.

Any suggestions for how to monetizing them - I've tried quite a few affiliate programs and products over the years, with relatively limited money. Adsense of course too. Any ideas?

Be careful with what you advertise. Maybe it would be better to target your advertisements at the teacher and parents with educational materials, tutoring services, etc.

I say be careful because if teachers start seeing flashing ads for kids video games and other entertainment they may stop recommending your site as a homework aid.

Ask this question and you will get answer. Do the kids who visit your website have the buying power or they depend on their parent?

I've tried educational products. Problem is the sales rate is very low.

The kids see the ads, but the parent/teacher isn't looking over their shoulder. So the "kid" traffic (and remember there are a lot more kids than teachers) is wasted.

Maybe there are some fun learning softwares you could promote. Just thinking out loud.

What about places selling banner or text ads to places like Kumon, or CTY (Center for Talented Youth), or even SAT prep or tutoring services.

First off, if the laws in the UK are anything like the ones here in the States, you have to be very careful with promoting to kids. Especially if they are under 13.

By the photo in your avatar, i think you're probably too young to remember this, but there used to be a Saturday morning cartoon block followed by one aimed at younger teens. Knowing that the buying power lay with the parents, they call to action was 'tell your parents to buy you this [cool thing or sugary cereal]'.

You could emulate this by promoting carefully selected products and linking them to a form based on the tell-a-friend scripts. Only this would be a tell-a-parent form that sent a link and some key benefits to whoever the kid filled in - parents, grandparents, etc.

I've observed that there are two things that will motivate a parent to buy something a kid asks for - will buying this give my kid an advantage in life, and will buying this get my kid to shut up and quit bugging me about it?

I'm not promoting to kids . I don't aim my pages at kids particularly, and i don't collect their info or anything like that, and don't want to.

I just have informational pages that I believe kids are reading based on the proportion of hits from .edu and .sch type browsers, etc. And I want to find legitimate advertisers for such a site.
