A blog or a site: pros & cons

Hello:

I hope someone can help me. I want to build a site for sales but am not sure whether to make it a blog or a site.

I am not sure what the difference is and what are the criteria I should consider when deciding?

My site will be informational with amazon a-stores. I am not sure which to use. I have built with site programs and WordPress both.

What should I be considering?

Thanks

jim

    site: complexity function
Blog: simple, just play on content

      Hi

I'd say Wordpress would be a great place to start. Use it for blogging to begin with, then get a good Theme to convert it into a nice looking site later.

You get the best of both worlds!

For all intents and purposes...there is no difference between a "site" and a "blog". Not really.

        I agree.

People use the word "blog" a little differently from each other. Some people think of a "blog" as a regularly updated site with dated posts and comments and a sidebar (it doesn't have to have any of those things, of course). The content management system called WordPress is thought of by many as "blogging software" but it can be used for all sorts of sites which bear no recognizable resemblance to "blogs" at all. Similarly, "non-bloggy" HTML software can be used to make regularly updated sites with dated posts, too.

Many blogs are far more complex than many "non-blog sites".

I never really know whether people will think of my niche sites as "blogs" or "non-blog sites" (they are, technically, mostly made with blogging software - though never WordPress - but you'd never really know that by looking at them). It doesn't matter, anyway.

A squeeze page made with Optimize Press is technically a "blog". But so what?

To all intents and purposes, it's become a meaningless distinction.

Blog - A Simply Content Geared Site
Website - A More Complex Site.

This is the very general concept, but the is on one correct answer.

What type of site did you have in mind?

I would go with a blog for sure, build it on wordpress, options are endless. You can create some wicked sites on wordpress easily and have everything up and running, theme, plugins etc all with in an hour. Then it's just up to you to add content!

A blog is specific formatted-type of website, so I'm not clear on the question. The more important question I have for you is what does your business plan say and how are you planning to monetize your traffic?

Go for the site 100%. A blog will just cost you time and dont bring any profits.
You need years to have a good blog, even if you write everyday.

A site .. just setup a bit of content, SEO it a bit.. and here you go
