Super easy upsell profit - without even creating an upsell product

I've been doing this for a while now, it's an easy way to make some extra money without even having to make an upsell product...

As an upsell you offer something like an unlimited personal use license.

So the basic version, in theory allows them to use the product on 1 computer/device, and the upsell allows unlimited devices.

Of course you don't have to use a technical mechanism to enforce it.

Likewise You can also do home/family vs education vs business.

The product can be fundamentally the same, but the amount the customer pays can vary.

You haven't lost anything if the customer "cheats" by buying the cheapest variant even if strictly inapplicable, as it is a sale you might not have made otherwise, but some customers will pay for the higher priced variants.

Also the very fact that higher priced versions are available, makes your cheaper versions look more valuable.

The only thing im thinking is that u wont be targeting everyone for ur upsell actually.

Cos not everyone needs the extra license or something like that.

But if u offer a advance product that compliment that 1st product, its open to all.
Its just whether they want it, or whether NOW or LATER.

But extra licenses will only be for people who has multiple computers. [example is if u are selling a software]

i admit it doesn't target every customer, but neither do other upsells. This is a lazy way to add to your bottom line. The beauty of this one, is the customer is already convinced to buy the exact product, you're just negotiating a better price...

And yes, you can do other upsells as well.

And no it's not just software, a PDF ebook can be read on 1 device or many. A package can have a corporate business use, or a personal use , and corporate users are not usually so price sensitive on small purchased since it is not their own personal money, etc

Yup i get what u mean.
And yes its a good idea that u can do it with PDF etc, i was just stating the software license as 1 example since i was lazy to type and explain more. hehe

But what i was trying to put across is that if u offer multiple license, u only target those that need the multiple license, or have multiple computers.
Those who dont have wouldnt even need to consider.

But if u offer an advance product, its open to all, its whether they want it or not. But all of them can consider. The other option only those who need the multiple license will consider.

Other than that, ya its a good idea, u can offer both of this options anyway.
Just trying to compare the both as if u had to choose 1.
        But u dont.

Great post. So many people think that they need to create a new product to create a new stream of income. I don't consider that to be an effective use of leverage. Look at what you have then jump out of the box and see what you find.
