Where do you even begin when tryng to Create your own Product ??

Been in IM for a year now. I have 7 Blogs and my Affiliate sales and Adsense Earnings have been increasing steadily evey month.

In the past 6 months or so I kept seeing people on the Forum here saying, " create your own Product , its the way to go etc..etc.. "

I always just blew it off since I was content with Affiliate Marketing and thinking it was a hassle to create your own Product.

Then yesterday when I was out by our Pool with my daughter I had an
'ah-ha ' moment...or whatever Oprah describes that exact moment when the lightbulb goes off in your head !

On one of my Niche Blogs (not IM ) it would be perfect for me and my Brother to create our own info. Product and write an E-Book.

I am excited but have NOT a clue where to start in creating your Product, getting it accepted at Clickbank, Marketing it to other Affiliates to sell, etc..etc..

Could anyone give any insight into this ??

Thanks !!

I'm in the same boat as you are. I started thinking about creating some eBooks just to get my feet wet.

The way I look at it is:

    1. When you are being an affiliate for someone else, you are competing with thousands of other people for keywords, etc.. Even though this guy is getting all of the sales anyways.
    2. You never get the keywords you truly want, you are only getting a percent of the sale, and you have to hope someone buys from you instead of the next guy.

So I'm thinking why not make an eBook and have those thousands of people sale my book while I sit back and make the money? I don't have to fight for keywords or worry if they are going to buy from me or the next guy because I get money from every sale anyways.

I'm aware it doesn't go that smooth, but I would say creating your own product is the way to go even though I haven't done it yet

    Hello..

I wish there is better time to do this, but looking at your record, now is the right time to produce something as your own product.

First of all, when trying to come up with an idea for product creation try to think outside the box of just Clickbank and ebooks. Yes, that can be very profitable, but don't limit yourself to that.

One pro about Clickbank though is the fact that merchants don't have to deal with paying the affiliates. But, this can also be a con. A lot of affiliates don't want to wait forever for Clickbank to pay them...they want their commissions sent to their PayPal account every month. Now, it's up to you to pay them...

So, my best advice right now is to get very familiar with as many affiliate/merchant networks that you can find, and read their "merchant" info. This may have a huge factor in the way that you design your product.

Here's a few off the top of my head:

    - E-Junkie.com
    - ShareASale.com
    - CJ.com
    - LinkShare.com
    - PayDotCom.com
    - Clickbank.com

Make a spreadsheet, and compare all of their fees, features, options, ect..

Another task you will be doing is creating all of the marketing materials that you will give to the affiliates for promotions. So, go ahead and get that created too...

There are many different ways to get your own product out there. One idea that is fast and simple is to have a friend interview you on your topic. You simply develop a list of questions around your expertise or niche and record the call using Free Conference Calling: Conference Call Services Free from BV FreeConferencing.

The recording will be your audio part of your product. From there you either transcribe the recording yourself or outsource the transcription to someone at ScriptLance.com Custom Freelance Programming. Outsource web projects to programmers and designers. for a pretty low price. Now you have an audio and an ebook for your customers.

Next, you could create a short PowerPoint on your subject line and then use Camtasia to record your presentation and use a USB headset microphone to record your content. Now you have a video product. All of this could be done easily in a weekend.

As long as your product is digital and easily downloadable you shouldn't run into any issues with Clickbank.

      Best of luck to you!

I agree with Product Creator - it's in the niche. First thing you should do is pick a niche that would be profitable. It mostly comes to demand (i.e. too small a niche and you'll wast your efforts on a product with no buyers), and supply (too many competitors would make sales and name-building difficult and PPC expensive).

Case in point: One of my first products was a Joint Venturing course. (Admins: No link provided to the product. I'm not spamming. Thanks.) Both product and sales page are good. I put in lots of time in developing the product - graphics, content, site - you name it. Then I invested in SEO, PPC and finding affiliates.
The end result afted wasting MONTHS of work and MANY dollars - $200 would be considered a good month. Definitely not worth the trouble.

Then I checked all other JV courses on ClickBank. NONE had a gravity score over 1.5, and even that sporadically (meaning - you get a single sale and jump to 1.7, then watch your grav slowly dissolve during the next few weeks...). Big surprise - but the niche is just too small.
I all but dropped the product. It's still there - but I'm not putting any time or money in it. I have other products that provide a better ROI for me.

So... In the early days of the net it was enough to write about what interests you. Now you need to find what would sell, then create a product around it.

Oh, and if you'd like a copy of the "create your own eBook" guide that I have as part of the JV course - just PM me and I'll send it to you, free.

      Best,
      Brad

Before creating or writing an ebook try to do some research. The most important part of the research should be deciding the structure of your ebook. When you have the structure ready an ebook can be written within 24 hours

Have you overcome any serious life/financial/health/business/confidence problems or know someone who has?

Have you had any successes that other's have considered significant enough to have celebrated with you?

Significant personal experiences always make for great reading in my opinion. Anyone can get the 'how to' academic stuff for free without too much trouble, but the real-life story stuff is worth something anyday.

I agree with blackhatcodebreaker - the first thing you should really focus on is your market and you should see whether there's a potential for you to build a business in that market. Don't limit yourself to a single product. Think about what could you sell on the backend.

Also you should realize that there are literally dozens of different ways to create a product. I am telling you! If you're passionate about this topic then you can sit down and write. Trust me on this one - it's so easy to write about the things you love! You can literally finish a 100+ page ebook in less than a week.

Also think about video or audio products. They have a higher perceived value this means you could charge more, which means that at the end of the day you could spend more on marketing and still make a profit

A good way to do it is by listening to what people are saying about previous products the have purchased and listening carefully to what they liked and disliked about the product this can be done through observing forums such as this one,

Then all you need to do is take all the good points of the product you have identified and improve on it by by adding what people want this way you can't really fail to provide a quality product.

My advice: START NOW. Worry about each step AS YOU TAKE IT. This means write your ebook and THEN figure out the Clickbank part.

If you are making money, re-invest some in hiring someone to make you a nice web site to sell this book on.

I recommend that AFTER you get the book done,

    1) Get DLGuard for automatic sales download handling
    2) Setup a clickbank account (dead simple)
    3) List your product in the marketplace (dead simple)

Then you learn and add stuff as you go. It's easy to overcomplicate this. Take one step at a time and just DO it.

You can have the best product in the world but if you don't know how to get in front of your target market effectively then you will fail.

I personally like creating dvd products or audio cd's as these have a higher perceived value than digital downloads and you can automate the delivery with kunaki.

Simple video and audio can be created simply using free programes like Audacity, Cam Studio and windows movie maker. I also turn written ebooks into audio CD's as well.

Learn the simple ways first before you start spending a fortune on software.

Run with your idea. Who cares if it works or not. At least you are doing something and taking action. If it does not work move on to the next one. Out of ten products - one will be a home run, a couple that do okay and the rest will probably be flops.

Don't over analyze it. Just do it.

Even if you have flops I am sure there are still all kinds of ways to monotenize it. Sell PLR, give it away for lead gen, fill it with affiliate links and sell rebranding rights. Turn it into content etc.

I agree with many people here in the fact that you don't want to spend a fortune to create it. In fact if you do it right it should cost you very little except your time.

I'll say it again. Just do it. Go for it. Make it happen. Don't worry and over analyze.

I wish you the best of luck.
