How to watch those long YouTube videos very vey Faaaaast

So you go to watch a webinar video or a tutorial video on the net.

And you notice that the video is 55 minutes long...
  • Most of those 55 minutes are wasted time.
  • You wish you could just "jump around" and get to the parts you need.
  • You wish the guy would talk faster.
  • You wish YouTube (or the other video provider) would stop "buffering"

There are several methods out there for "speeding up" web videos. But I've found this method to be the best and easiest way:

STEP 1

Install the free Mozilla Add-on: "Video DownloadHelper"

STEP 2

Install the free VLC Media Player.

STEP 3

GO to the video you want to download. Then just click the Video DownloadHelper's little icon in Mozilla here

STEP 4

The video.flv file will save to your hard drive. (This will take a couple minutes--depending on your internet speed). Go work on something else while you're waiting.

Step 5

Now the whole video is on your hard drive. Open it up in VLC Media Player. You can now move around to various locations in the video with ease. You can also speed up or slow down the video by pressing the left or right brackets on your keyboard: [ or ]
(I watch pretty much every video at around 2.25 speed these days.)

That's it - good luck

You watch at 2.25 speed!? Wow, you must have some good ears. I have a hard time following audio when it gets past 1.7. I definitely love speeding up videos though, such a time saver!

hah well it depends on the mic quality, the user's accent, and the music they use.
