Against Amazon TOS - Amazon Geeks, ME NEEDZ YOU!

Hey guys,

It's not often I ask for any product review or Amazon advice, since I usually know anything there is to know about it.

But recently I've given traffic brokers another go because I want to keep adding to traffic sources. I've gone through a few and I've finally found a profitable traffic broker whose traffic converts between 1.5-2% by direct linking to the Amazon store front. Put it this way, at their prices for £600 I could make anywhere from £1000 to £8000 (depending on the commission of the products sold), I'd say I'd average roughly £3000-4000, and that's after sending a considerable amount of traffic.

It then hit me that this traffic is generated from being displayed to visitors as a pop-up, pop-under, via an in-line frame, or directly in a visitor's web browser.

I'm guessing they are illegal practices according to Amazon, but could anyone chime in just incase

I reckon the conversion rate could be higher if I instead sent them to a one page wordpress site that displays:

Get the Cheapest Prices By Shopping At Amazon:

Home & Garden(this is a link to general Home & Garden page)

Here either the sub directories or product types so:

Food Processors, Espresso Machines, Mixers, Kettles, add more, add more, add more, add more, see all

All links to the page with all product sorted by highest rated/most popular to lowest.

Do that for all Amazon sections, so that people have a choice in which area they want to shop.

Below a list of Deals and Discounts for the day, using a few plugins to make them interact. I reckon if I get them to click the specific area they want, they'll be more likely to purchase.

And those that aren't interested will just leave. I can't send them to my review site because it's not big enough with enough diversity yet plus the traffic is based on shopping, not consumer reviews.

I'll give that a go, because the traffic converts, but I wanted someone to chime in about the direct approach anyway

Thanks,

Jason.

- PS. For those who wonder where I test traffic n find em from I'll be doing a budget product review site service soon based on wordpress with traffic building tips! (if you have a problem with this little promo admin or mods let me know or just edit it out )

By my reading of the Amazon TOS, the primary requirement is that you need to allow the visitor to actually see and click a link by their choice, to arrive on the Amazon website through your affiliate link.

I know it will diminish your Click-Through Rate a little bit, but so long as you put a landing page between the traffic source and Amazon, you should have no problems.

    Iframing is definitely out.

  • Yeah I figured as much. I guess I asked in case for some bizarre reason there was a little loophole or reason for why I could do it! It's a shame because the ROI is great, to the point where the more money I throw at it the more I could make, to the tune of 5 figures or more.

Aint that a bummer.....! Well, I'm hoping that by sending them to this landing page / 1 page shopping directory, I can better send this traffic to the right areas of Amazon and convert at a much higher rate, since they've not landed straight on Amazon as a redirect, but instead have actually clicked to go to the section they were interested in, meaning they want to be there and thus conversions should be higher... I hope.

Just got to make the CTR is high enough to make payment worthwhile. If I don't atleast double what it costs me to pay for the traffic, I don't find it that worthwhile.

Would you share your traffic Source? I Wonder where you get huge amounts of converting traffic from.

Sure do you want a pot of gold with that?

I'll give you somewhere worthwhile, that specifically reports on traffic sources, and I don't like to give things out but I use traffictesters.com which provides case studies, and I make a decision based on what they did.

As for my specific source, I've not had enough testing with it yet to find a way to monetize it profitable without direct linking, and once I do I'll write up a guide, but until then, this stays in my grubby paws for now
