Your money making tip of the day...

When you don't take effective action you are denying yourself your ideal future.

When you don't take effective action you are stealing from your potential a life which should be yours for the taking.

When you don't take effective action you are stealing from your loved ones the lifestyle which you could all be sharing together.

When you don't take effective action you are stealing from other people the gifts you could be sharing with them in the future.

When you don't take effective action you are stealing the very gift of life itself by not performing at what is your ideal optimum level.

So stop making excuses wasting your time on this that and the other making excuses for things not to work well in your favor.

Every time you justify an action to yourself, which in your heart of hearts you know isn't providing you and your family or loved ones with what you know deep down inside you can bring to the table, you are in fact living a life of denial by choice. Think about it carefully.

Life, success, money, control, power is all a choice. Only you can make the decision to turn up the heat on yourself to perform at a level which gives you everything you want out of life.

Waste time feeding your mind with empty drivel rather than taking massive purposeful action to get you to where you want and need to be in life is selfishness personified.

Not knuckling down doing what is needed, wasting time looking around forums, checking out Facebook, looking at Youtube videos anything but taking highly effective action, when you do this constantly every day - you are in fact stealing from yourself the life you think you deserve. (Which in and of itself is a contradiction in terms).

Truthfully, how much is your time worth to you? See, when you waste time selfishly looking after your temporary needs... how much is this activity costing you in real terms than if this time spent was spent on more productive and profitable activities?

Exercise...

Add up how much time you waste on activities you don't need to waste your time on per week and times this by 52 weeks, what is the total number of hours in front of you? I bet it's quite a large number of hours right? A bit of a shock to you I bet? Precisely.

So now you know what this number of hours is, which undoubtedly amounts to many days if not weeks of your time over the course of the year, the question naturally arises...

How are YOU now going to realign your time with real action which instead of starving or strangling your potential feeds it and pushes you forwards towards your ideal future?

How badly do YOU want your ideal future?

How acute is your pain of being without your ideal future as opposed to taking massive action in the here and now to take the necessary steps towards achieving it?

Which action on your part will get you where you ideally want to be quicker and easier? Wasting time on daft unneeded activities or spending your time more productively on the things you need to be doing right now?

Please feel free to discuss...

Smoking hot,

Mark Andrews

Thanks, it did cross my mind but then it is directly related to making money with effective time management skills, so with this in mind, I felt this was more the appropriate forum to put this thread into.

It's not about positive thinking or success. It's about how much your time is worth to you personally in terms of money lost / money gained through taking more effective action.

Mark, I hear what you are saying, but activities are not a total waste if the person is enjoying it (No matter what it may be).

The major thing would be is to get out of our comfort zone. If you want something bad enough, you will strive towards it, but to me a person is wasting their time if they are not enjoying what they are striving for. Especially internet marketing/online work. It takes alot of hours of time, but it's worth it.

Excellent post! For years I used to be almost OCD about taking effective action. Every day I made a new list and was driven to accomplish all I could. For some reason the last year or so I have slacked off and wasted a lot of time. I have been thinking about this very topic ever since January 1st but had still not taken any steps to improve.

Thanks for outlining some great reasons why we can get so much more out of life if we are focused and smart about how we spend our time.

Clearly, people have different philosophies when it comes to how they spend their free time. What I got from Mark's excellent post was that if people really want to acheive their ideal future they need to be more effective with their time.

I think this is different for everyone, but in a nutshell, if a person spends a certain amount of time doing unproductive things, it does have an opportunity cost. That's not to say not to have fun, because having some fun has shown that it actually increases productivity (within reason of course).

Back in 1999 for me this was putting away my television and cutting my cable. That might sound drastic to some people, but for me back then it was what I had to do in order to take my business more seriously. It shifted the focus back to my business and it helped me take on new, more productive hobbies such as exercising, meditating, etc.

There are a dearth of distractions out there and they are not all bad. I know when I'm working from home there's the TV (yes, I eventually put it back), the Internet (one big a** distraction), friends calling and visiting, family, the girlfriend, holidays, birthdays, weddings, got to do those taxes, seminars, etc.

It's about managing these distractions and knowing when to stay focused on the prize.

The rich man and the poor man has the same amount of hours in the day. The rich man and the poor man has to play whatever cards they are dealt. The rich man and the poor man are on an even playing field when it comes to general information, and, though that information may not be "trade secrets" for the poor man, there is enough information for the poor man to excel to an even playing field if he instill that general information afforded to him.

On the 25th of this month I am going to give up tv unless world changing events are happening.(i.e. sept 11th). Not to take away from the OP subject, but, stolen time comes in different forms, so, I am going to leave with this quote from an old thread on here.

One of the stupidest ways to spend your time is wasting time. Planning your time for money making is so essential - really it can be done in half an hour each day. More if you're ambitous. Great post!

That is so true, in the end our biggest enemy is our self. We have to stop procrastinating, or working too hard but not so smart. Too much lollygagging is also a form of stealing our precious time. We have to use the latest apps to help improve our work efficiency. Of course it will cost us some bucks, but it is way better than cost us the time that we should spend with our beloved one.

Great post, Mark! I have not heard that term "effective action" before. I have thought about it more in terms of evolving a successful strategy along with taking massive action. However, the term effective action seems to sum it up quite nicely and seems more efficient and perhaps even accurate.

    Excellent information, Mark.

Your OP struck a few nerves, as did some of the other Warrior's responses.

One of the sneakiest 'thieves' I recently decided to take down was my inability to set a structured time limit for my daily tasks. To organize a set schedule for writing, researching, rough drafting, and implementation. Obviously, it's easy to forget "this is a job." - And in order to succeed it should be disciplined as such. - I am guilty of being too relaxed, for sure!!!

As, mentioned above... I rarely ever watch tv, play video games, or spend too much time doing anything outside the scope of family time & work.

However, I do way too much forum trolling, planning, and searching for my 'comfort zone'. This is just as much a silent excuse as not working at all. Be it, I am addicted to this forum and grateful for all that it offers... it too is a major distraction, at times because I often feel comfortable here just reading upon what everyone is doing?

Perhaps for every 4 hours of work, I could limit myself to 20-30 minutes on the forum, less it be directly related to building my business model, gaining leads, or to solve a problem.

That being said... I am logging off, cause if I don't, nothing productive will get done.

    All the Best,

    Art

PS- Mark it's good to see you're still coming around, read a post recently you were changing hats. I've learned a great deal from your posts. Thank-You!!!

I also think its ironic, that the first person who commented, responded in the way they did. This post will definitely bother >>a lot<< of lazy minded people, who prefer to live in a deluded reality.

But this is a hardcore "blast-right-through-your-paradigm" message.

Its so valuable that I'm going to shorten this into a few bullet points and hang it right behind my computer screen on my bulletin board. You should seriously start designing motivational posters or something.

How do you decide what you "Need" to do and what you do not need to do.

I do not "Need" to play golf, I could put that 3 hours into my business

I do not "Need" to spend a couple of hours preparing a nice meal for My Wife and I, when I could just pop something in the microwave and get back to work.

I do not "Need" to hang out with my friends once and a while when there is a computer I could be glued to.

If I put this into action what I will "Need" is psychiatric care.

Says who? Different styles for different people. You do what works for you. Know thy self is very important.

Non related example is some people went to A.A. recovered, and, never entered a bar again, while others have gone, and, still drink the occasional beers (just not the hard stuff).

To each his/her own. You decide what you need based on your level of hunger to succeed and what you're willing to sacrifice to get your ultimate utopia.

Come now, you don't really think that Mark meant that you have to be working at your computer 24/7, giving up all other aspects of your life to slave away at your business, do you?

Even whistling while you worked wouldn't make that bearable, not to mention that you would then be stealing from your loved ones in a different arena. Notice his thread title: Stop Stealing.

No one here least of all me, is suggesting to you, you need to give up all your free time to work on your business constantly.

Obviously it's very important to give time to yourself to do other activities besides constantly working away at your business. From time to time, it's very important you reward yourself for hitting your goals within given time frames.

No, what I'm talking about here is time spent on what can be referred to as completely meaningless activities. Time spent just for the sake of it looking through forums, checking out silly videos on Youtube or seeing who has said what, where and when on social media sites such as Facebook.

These kind of activities are merely distractions which stop you from getting on with more productive work.

Fact is, if you get into a habit of wasting your time on silly inconsequential activities such as those mentioned above, in other words, simply faffing about for the sake of it, the danger of doing this constantly day in, day out is that a great deal of your time and your potential can be completely lost. Time as you know doesn't go on forever, for each and every one of us it is but a finite resource something to be highly valued.

Get into a bad habit wasting time either on or offline just to kill a bit of time for 'fun' sake, distracting yourself constantly is a sure fire way to invite major procrastination into your life. There's a saying...

"Everything I didn't do yesterday, added to everything I won't do today, plus everything I won't do tomorrow - completely exhausts me."

Which is exactly what happens if you don't feed your mental faculties with the proper food at the proper time. Your mind and your motivation is like a muscle which needs exercising properly. Carry out the wrong exercises and you end up suffering negative consequences as a result of the input you feed your mind with.

          On the other hand...

If you flex the muscles within your mind by focusing in like a laser on more productive activities in the here and now you will probably make a great deal more progress.

Sure, if you want to reward yourself for a days hard work do so. Giving yourself 'play' time can in fact help you to work even more effectively when the time calls for it. But I think you know what I'm talking about here.

What I'm talking about is spuriously wasting time with a distracting activity which at the end of the day does absolutely nothing for you. It is this time which could be better spent on more productive activities which when all added up at the end of the year, could be time spent which yields a much higher dividend or yield than if you just squander away all the hours in your day.

              Nice exercise.

The second more positive part of this exercise is to add up the hours when
you're taking action that definitely brings you closer to your goals and then
              work on increasing that.

Beating yourself up too much with an excessive focus on trying to make
every minute of every day productive is not healthy.

On the other hand defining limits and saying "these are the hours when
I'm going to do productive work" and keeping track of the productive
work you do and the results you get is a very positive exercise.

              Kindest regards,

I do like this story about Socrates!! Even though it dates back to before BC...it still applies today!

"There is a story that tells about a young man that asked Socrates how he could
    acquire wisdom.

    "Come with me" Socrates replied.

He took the boy into the river and pushed his head under the water, where he held him until the boy was almost breathless.

Then, he took the boy's head out of the water...

Once the boy cached his breath Socrates asked him: "What did you want more
than anything when your head was under water?".

"I wanted air" replied the boy.

Socrates smiled and said: "When you'll long for wisdom as much as you longed
for air when your head was under water – you'll get it!".

It's time to ask yourself - Do you long for something to the extent to which you
would long for air, while your head is under water?
    "

Thanks for sharing with us. I agree completely although this thread would probably be more appropriate for the mind warriors section...

Nonetheless, I think everybody who wants to make a living working online should take this info into account.

    Cheers

This is an excellent post for Self Motivation Purposes! It is YOU who control your OWN destiny, not any other people. At the end of the day, how much money you make really depends on how much hardwork, time and effort you are willing to put in. For Warriors who have problems motivating themselves, I would strongly recommend them to bookmark this post and read it at least once daily.
