Is Ebay All There Is??

Alright Warriors

I'm not sure if you can help me or not I just thought I ask, so please don't me

I am wondering if there is anything out there that is an alternative to Ebay? And if there is anything that is well known as Ebay? Or does Ebay have all the market??

I am looking to sell my stuff via other means and I just need to know if there is any other site out that does similar to ebay...

There are other ways to sell stuff online, but if you're looking to sell physical goods via online auction, then there's nowhere that has anywhere near the number of users eBay has.

I'm not even sure why you would need anything other than eBay.

There's Gumtree & other classifieds sites, but in my experience none of them are anything like eBay in terms of the size of market eBay represents.

Well if the house that you are currently living at has been in trouble with eBay before you even moved in and is banned then you too are banned.. It's one of their policies..... Linking address and all that... Not sure fully but that's what they say

Ah. Well, if it wasn't you, then you surely can get in touch with eBay and they'll give you the opportunity to prove that the person who they banned was a previous occupant and not you??

Well, if you just want to sell items without an auction, then sell things on Amazon. There are other auction websites out there. They obviously aren't as big as eBay, but they are there. Just do a quick Google search for them.

There's always the other online retail giant -Amazon. I believe you can sell just about anything you want there, although not as an auction. It seems like most of the bigger eBay sellers today are using it more as a retail store than an auction anyway.

I have sold items on both eBay and Amazon, but I've never done either as a business.

I think it depends on what you are selling. I have had good luck selling books on Amazon Marketplace most recently. I used eBay to sell but it has been several years ago.

It really depends on what you sell. Years ago, it was all one huge marketplace... now the internet populace is starting to branch off in niches.

You can pretty much sell those anywhere. Amazon is probably the most receptive.

That is a hyper-competitive market that is already "owned" by a lot of players in that field who buy by the ton and sell super cheap - often as loss-leaders to get people into their eBay store to buy the higher end stuff... This kills your potential profit margins and the best way to lose money on eBay is to sell low-margin products. Hope that doesn't sound too harsh - but there's a right way and a wrong way to approach eBay / Amazon and I'd hate for you to go into it the wrong way.

But back to your question - yes, there are only two mega-giants in eCommerce - eBay and Amazon and they are two very different animals. (I recently did a free webinar on this topic alone)

On Amazon, you really have to be a stickler for details and more "professional" in your business.

eBay is a lot more relaxed in their business but each site has its strengths and weaknesses - but BOTH are incredible ways to move a LOT of product in a short period of time.

If eBay is punishing you for the misdeeds of a previous person who lived at your address (doesn't make sense to me why they would do that, but let's roll with it) then just get a private mailbox address. (UPS store, etc.) and use that as your business address. Don't forget to also use the new business address as the billing address on whatever credit / debit card you're using with eBay.

You can sell on iOffer. Or you can sell on Amazon Services too.

I think eBay can be a good start for people that have never sold anything online. It is easy and you don't need to drive the traffic. I personally use eBay to generate a nice extra income but, more important, to build my list for my digital products.
Anyway, if you decide to sell physical goods, there is a lot of potential.
I am getting tired of shipping stuff around the globe and that's way I build my lists using eBay. Now I sell directly to my existing customers through my websites.
    Good luck to you.
