Can sidebars disappear?

INTERNET MARKETING

I am using a wordpress theme and when i go into widgets, on the right, i can not see sidebar anywhere! I am trying to add an RSS scroller to the site and they recommend adding it to your site's sidebar. It's as if it disappeared because i can remember logging into this site months ago and experimenting with sidebar text.

Can anyone offer some advice in laymans terms because i'm not really an expert, thanks.

What do you see on the right side of the Widgets page in WordPress admin? Maybe the sidebar is called something different than Sidebar? If widgets weren't enabled with your theme, you wouldn't be able to see the Widgets page.
