For the majority of my time with Internet Marketing i have used free traffic on around ninety percent of my online presence, but to be truthful it is to slow for my liking and i have been considering ppc.

I am not in the position to start ppc at the moment though, due to the fact that i will soon be going in to hospital for a operation and will be off work for a while.
So paid is out for now.

I would love some feedback on going from free traffic to paid or even vice versa!

Be prepared to take a loss at first when you first move into PPC.

Make sure your tracking is on point so you can analyze your data, where your profits are coming from, where you're wasting money, and with time and usually a lot of money invested, you'll be able to turn your campaigns profitable.

Not saying that you won't hit gold right out of the gates, but that's RARE. So just be prepared for lots of testing and trial and error Sometimes the GOOFIEST things work when it comes to ppc and media buying.

Although PPC (that is, adwords) has been very quick in providing traffic, don't think that you have to get bogged down into the "I gotta do paid, free is not providing anything" mentality.

The trick is to master as many free methods as possible. That said, don't put too much focus on the "popular" free methods such as SEO, or social media. They do work, but your emphasis needs to include other (more powerful) methods.

Mastering free or paid traffic is an art. In the newbie stage, for most of us it's either forsake "slow" free traffic for fast paid traffic that puts you in the red or vice versa, OR... take your time and master both (free to start in your case, because of the hospital situation)... Do that and you won't have that problem eventually.

yes you hit it on the head there.

Normally you will get good results or best results with 1 or 2 main traffic sources, when you see that stick to them. And focus more on them.

Lets face it there are 12,433 ways to get traffic to your site or squeeze pages, but there will be a few ways that really get you trageted traffic and that make you nice money. So its wise to keep using those and upscale and outsource if you can.

totally agree ... but master them one at a time. It's been said many times around here, if you do not master one at a time, you will become ..

the jack of all trades and a master to none ... been my problem for a LONG LONG time

Traffic generation is the lifeblood of your online business. There are basically 2 strategies of traffic generation: free or paid traffic. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Which method you use will ultimately depend on your current circumstances, your goals, your lifestyle and your resources. You can even mix both methods if it suits your requirements better.

paid traffic is good .... but it does not start working right from the start ... do alot of homework .... nowdays you can find lots of case studies for different niches in different blogs so study them in detail before jumping on it ...

free traffic can be really good if done the right way .... but i think for free traffic you have to give more value for your product .....

got no funds, but have time...go for FREE

got funds, but limited on time....go for PAID

    pretty simple.....

but remember both have their pros and cons.

the FREE route, you are giving up your TIME, something you cannot get back.

The PAID, you are giving up your MONEY, so you better have a good sales funnel in place to recoup your money and then some.

I still use both and they both work like gangbusters, but look at any guru, and they will all be using PPC and paid traffic, if you are not doing paid traffic you cannot really kill it online.

I mean what GURU is sitting writing 200 articles a day. NONE, what guru is sitting creating and uploading 50 free videos to youtube a day. NONE!. Paid traffic is the best, but like I said you have to have a good sales funnel in place.

I'm really into paid traffic. I've been doing SEO for years - but it's getting boring to worry about linking etc.

I'm moving all my efforts more towards traditional marketing using paid traffic. Results are going very well. I can't afford to sit around waiting for good results in SERPs when I can make a lot of money using other methods.

Here's a simple statement to sum it all up.

If you have free time, less money - go with FREE TRAFFIC

If you don't free time, but you have money to spend - go with PAID TRAFFIC

    Simple right?

Everyone should use both methods in my opinion, more traffic = more earnings

The thing to remember however is you will have to spend money to get your campaign returning a positive return and in most cases that can take a while depending on the source
