Which do you prefer? [questions to product owners]

1. having 1 sale without refunds.

2. having 3 sales with 2 refunds.

And why?

Edited : okay okay, let me make it more realistic. haha

1. 50 sales with 5 refunds.
or
2. 60 sales with 15 refunds.
or
3. 10 sales with no refunds.

Because what i was thinking is that maybe some ppl will still take option 2 with the reason that there is more exposure, and next time they might buy again.

Because not all who seek a refund feels the product sucks, it could just mean they feel its good but they dont want to use it, so maybe the next launch they may check it out again.

And some seek a refund for the sake of it, but you still can benefit from it, like if you recommend them 3rd party services and u might earn some residual commission etc.

There are a few of other reasons i can think of like reviewers who purchase and review then get a refund etc. But i would like to hear from u guys.

Option number 1 - low (or none) refund rates will increase future sales. Which basically means the buyers are actually satisfied with my work, and are likely to buy something else from me in the future.

Having 3 sales with 2 refunds means the product is crap. And the buyers will most likely unsubscribe from your updates, some will even report you as spam. I can't even begin to tell you what bad reviews will do for your "name" and future sales.

    Regards,

Why would anyone pick option 2?

I know one possible reason, but would be interested in hearing your take on it.

Is that suggestive that you'd choose option 2 for having acquired two prospects?

Not too sure what you mean here, but exposure starts with a great product.

They will more than likely refund again, these types are often magic button seekers no good for your business.

Not worth bothering with. If they wanted a refund "for the sake of it" they're serial re-funders and will most likely do it on whatever you offer them.

Anyone reviewing gets a free copy from me, and serious affiliates also get free access.

At the end of the day you want a solid product, low refund rate and positive real reviews. You will always get refunds that's just the way it is.

But if we are now saying that's cool because we added a buyer onto our list the real question is have we? Are they a serial re-funder or did they trust your product but was extremely let down and therefore will not buy ever again, therefore gaining nothing but a bad rep.

Hahhaha yea, looks like a poll.

But i know of some business model that the main product itself is refundable, but the 3rd party services might not be.
So you still may earn from there.

    50 sales with 5 refunds.

Because nevertheless, they've vouched and increased the social proof needed. Refunds= happy customers nevertheless.

    50 sales with 5 refunds.

Proves that my product IS good (to customers), and DOES sell (to affiliates), and with 5 refunds, you can't please everybody really.

Refund rates in the 10% and below range are what I have found normal (many of my products I have been able to get down below 5% based primarily on after-sales techniques such as follow-up surveys, case studies, post-sale surprise bonuses, etc...

That said, it does very much depend on a) your sources of traffic and b) your sales letter as much as your product.

People with a high refund rate may just be poorly positioning a decent product - selling something that doesn't exist in the product. If this occurs, you have the choice of re-structuring your sales letter or quickly adding the gaps into your product offering.

      Yup, all about managing expectations.

If you market to them a tree and sell them a twig, you're gonna get a refund request.
      I totally agree with this.

I prefer number 1 while the order do not have huge different with no 2 and have lesser number of refund.
I'm not choose no 3, because i believe no business able to give perfect product and service no matter you are no 1 in the world or the only producer in the world. Unsatisfied customers sure have.

Personally, I'll prefer option 3. I know there are guys out there who will buy the product, test and refund it for no reason. I believe in best quality. give the "best product and customer support" to customers so that even non interested person purchase and never wish to refund.

"I prefer Quality Over Quantity". I am selling gaming scripts, 10+ product sold successfully without any refund, although I'm offering 15 days money back. I give no reason to clients for the refund by providing quality product + fast support.

I know others may have different opinion but this is what I think and love to do it.
