Hi Warriors,

I was wondering whether anybody could comment on this stragey for selling an Ebook. I have researched the keyword (5400 pcm), bought the URL (www.keyword.com), built the website using Wordpress and have nearly finished the 100 page ebook. I was planning on marketing the website hard to reach the first page of google with a view to selling it directly. My thinking has been 5400 X 15% = 810 clicks for my website x 5-10% sales @ $19 could generate upto $1500 pcm.

I have no experience in this area and would really appreciate some honest feedback.

Many Thanks Simon

Are you already an authority in the niche you are writing about? If not, you should add some trust builders to the site you are building. Also, I'd recommend putting your book on the Kindle as well.

      Hi Simon

I think it depends on a number of factors such as:

How good your sales page for the book is
How well you can market it
Is it something people will pay money for even though they are searching for the keyword.
How much competition there is in your market.

      Best of luck.

      Sandy

Hi Guys & Gals. thank you for the replies.

@ Paul. I am an authority on the subject its a book teaching people how to setup a recruitment business very cheaply. I run a small Recruitment business and wish someone had shared this information with me at the start.

@ Joshua. I didnt know that was possible, I shall get in touch with them straight away. Hat tip - Thanks for the info.

@ Sandy The competition is low, no one else is selling a book, most people are trying to sell franchises ect.. at exorbident prices! I suppose what I am trying to figure out is how much time I should allow for marketing and are my figures conversions are realistic.

        Thanks again Warriors.

If you are just planning on doing a one-page sales letter, you'll have a tough time getting on the front page of Google.

Instead of aiming for Google, I suggest getting affiliates to do all the hard work for you. If you sell your ebook on a platform like JVZoo or DigiResults, not only will they take care of the technical parts of selling online, but they also have a TON of affiliates who can promote your product.

All you have to do is reach out to them and ask them to promote your product. Or, you can approach bloggers in your niche and offer them a review copy of your ebook.

Either of these options are better than hoping for a front page ranking on Google, IMHO.

This. He's just given you a great strategy that you can utilize if you take action. Never rely on Google for getting traffic.

Just using the "keyword rich domain" won't help you. Optimize the website for search engines on your own or hire a SEO expert (If you wish to invest) for that.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a little difficult and time consuming but you can learn and implement on your own.
"Google" internet and you will find more information on "How To Optimize Website For Search Engines". There are hundreds and thousand of blogs, article on SEO. Learn and implement on your own. Beleive me it's not that difficult.

Building an entire business around a one keyword rich domain is a short sighted strategy, and one that is most likely destined to fail, especially since you intend on pushing free organic traffic to it using SEO.

Marketing it how? Using what methods? Just SEO?

If your entire strategy is to "just hit page one of Google", you're in for some almost certain frustrations.

These numbers mean nothing. What matters are the actual numbers once your offering is live. I'm sure they'll be very different.

Simon, if you're an authority on this subject, then approach it like an authority and do it properly.

Listen, I get the feeling that you're doing "all of this stuff", not because its the right thing to do, but moreso, because..."that's what everyone else seems to be doing", OR, "that's what everyone keeps telling me to do".

I get the impression that anyone who has indepth knowledge about the recruitment business, doesn't just do so overnight. I'm certain to get where you are, you've invested tens of thousands of hours, yes/no?

Then why slap up some thin page with your ebook on it? Why not build out a high authority website and publish content based around your subject matter - all coming from someone who is experienced, established, and more importantly KNOWLEDGEABLE on the subject matter?

You have already done quite a bit of work on this project and you seem to be headed in the right direction.

We can all chime in and give you some ideas, but you know what will give you the most accurate picture? It is to roll up your sleeves, get the important parts ready and launch the Ebook. (bottom line... don't get too obsessed with perfection)

The response you get will give you the best overview of what needs changing, adding or removing. Good luck.

@ John. Yes I have 13 years experience and have invested allot of time and effort. The reason why I wanted to write the book is I believe in it and believe it can add real value to a budding recruitment entrepreneur. It would seem that my marketing methods maybe a little optimistic.

@onpointinfo The keyword is start a recruitment agency.

Thanks guys for your help the affiliate seems like a good choice. One quick question, Can ou still sell the product directly to a customer or do you have to let the affiliate have the eBook exclusively?

If you have 13 years experience, then I would consider building an authority site.
