The Videos I create in Youtube editor are getting clipped on the sites

Following the purchase of a WSO recently sold here, I've been putting together my own videos directly through the youtube editor. (By the way, yes, it is easy and fun! Video Editor - YouTube)

The way I've been doing them is just stringing along text panels, like a slide deck, so I'm just working with text that I put in through the editor.
One thing that I've noticed is that the last 3 or 4 videos I've made all have the sides clipped (but the first 3 or 4 did not).

What I mean is that the size of the canvas you have to work with is more or less that standard rectangle of you tube size 480x360 maybe. When I am in the editor and run through storyboard, it looks just as intended. However, when I publish and the video renders, the slides I've made are chopped off on the left and right sides, so the whole aspect is more square.

What all this means is that now I have to be a lot more careful about the size of the text I put on the slides. I have to work within the inner 70% or so of the slide to make sure the text won't get cut off, and have to end up using a smaller font than I otherwise would.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

(p.s. sorry, for the thread title I meant "clipped on the sides")
