INTERNET MARKETING

Hello,

I wanted to discuss a business plan that I was thinking of about:

An indie music website.
free for a few songs
$7/month membership for complete access
Top 10 chart artists get paid
a cool hangout place for all indie music lovers

Do you think it would be a viable business idea?? Would love to know your thoughts... Cheers.

I dunno, Ish.

Tough niche, Kids now days can watch/listen to just about any song for free on you tube.

Now, charging local musicians $$$ to be listed on your site,now you're talking.

What really matters is how well you distinguish yourself from the others out there..

You can be a player in your own way, find out what challenges a lot of music listeners face
day to day and provide the solution to them.

Above all, growing your brand and getting knows/trusted is paramount.

If you can come up with strong differential factors - it can definitely work.

What's missing "out there"? What would musicians LOVE to get as a result of joining any particular site?

Artists thrive on feedback. They also NEED fans. They NEED good gigs. And they NEED INCOMES. And also, they like to be around cool things and cool people.

When you discover a way to successfully address at least some of the above - it will only be a matter of time before the word spreads, particularly if you help it spread!

Music is a MASSIVE niche, but it's very saturated and is "looking" for something new. Build a new mousetrap and they'll beat a path to YOUR door.
