Does anyone use Targeted Opt-In?

You have someone opt-in to your site to receive a free report on say “Email Marketing Stats.” Then when that person returns to your site a “targeted” offer pops up just for them. Say it is on the “5 best Email Marketing Techniques” – this is based on them opting in originally for the topic of email marketing.

Your site would do this according to the visitor instead of every time they visit they see that same original offer or another one that isn’t on the topic they are interested in.

I think this is similar to when you see sidebars in sites when you look at a particular product and they have suggestions on the sidebar based on the product you visited.

Just wondered if anyone has done this, and if so, how did it work? Thanks.

So after they opt-in the first time.. you want to take them to a related opt-in form? I'm confused..

I'm sorry. I didn't mean another opt-in. I should have said a targeted offer. So they opted in on your email report, then when they visit again they see an offer that is targeted toward the subject of their original opt-in.

You can run a pop-up on your site "YES" that can offer them a Special Offer or OTO (*One Time Offer) - entirely up to you.

*Note, due to you (OP) editing & revising the original post question - - to an entirely different subject matter, I deleted my original answer.

I once had this brilliant idea for an affiliate product I was promoting, I'd give something valuable away from my pre-sell sales page with opt-in, and it definitely got me some subscribers.

The problem was, the product site I was linking them to (*with my aff id of course) also required users to opt-in as well. It killed my conversion rate for actual sign-ups and sales.

Therefore, I would keep your initial opt-in offer (*give-a-way or what not) relative to a targeted, yet broad audience - whereby, you can 'filter' them based on the emails they open after joining your list, by the products they purchase, and go from there.

Also, once someone subscribes to your list, you have the ability to send them to 'more specific' products or services, and could easily add another opt-in at that time...hence, creating a more lazer targeted list.

I would NOT recommend sending them another opt-in immediately after getting them as a subscriber...this would scare me, if I was offered back-to-back opt-ins.
