Holy cow batman, I've just figured it out. viral marketing is traditional marketing but in reverse, and is still marketing nonetheless.

You're still dealing with a skeptical market who will dismiss you the second you bore them, and you still must persuade the reader the value of your report AFTER they've read it.

Huh? Oh... that's a picture of your girlfriend. She gave it to me. She didn't give you one?
