What do you getting better optins with asking for name and email or just email for squeeze pages?

Possible just an email, but make sure that you are giving them something decent.

Not just sign up to our mailing list. It has to be something worth their time.

After all, why not just hit the back button on your page, you know?

Depends on what you're trying to do. Do you need their name? If not. Don't ask them for it. If you need their name. Tell them why otherwise they'll probably make one up.

If you are asking name and email vs just email than simple -- name and email.

The benefit is that once you have their name you can personalize your follow-ups. Email personalization has been proven time and time again to have higher optin rates.

Don't worry about asking for it. If you have what they want they will gladly give it to you.

I have personally tested with an opt in form that collect name & email and another opt in form that only collect email. The opt in form that collect only email gets better conversion. You will also want to make your squeeze page to be simple and direct so that you will get the best response.

    Just my 2 cents.

Asking for just an email will allow you to get a higher percentage of optins

So far I’ve found: people that only see they have to fill in an email instead of both email and name tend to sign up faster (i.e., greater optin).

Really, though, there’s more than what meets the eye.

Just email gets me more opt ins, but asking for both name and email tends to get me better quality opt ins. I have changed my approach from trying to get everyone to opt in to my list and instead looking for more serious potential leads. So I always ask for name and email.

It's very much a tradeoff. You will get more optins only asking for email, but you'll get better sales conversions when you can market to them personally with a name.Whether one greatly outweights the other is something I can't answer exactly, as it will depend on your traffic and style.

I did some tests over 3 months where I increased my optins 147% using one particular approach and strategy.

It's sort of a 'stealth' squeeze page using free giveaway reports. And it works in any niche

Good question. I've seen both done by most Guru's. Email only is best choice. I personally like sending personalized emails. But I have more than one squeeze page up so I do both.

It can also depend on where the traffic is coming from. i.e. is it cold traffic or pre-qualified as with Solo Ads etc.

I get a much better opt in from solo's than cold traffic for example. My last solo run generated a 58.7% opt in which I was very pleased with.

Also the content and quality of your free giveaway has an effect. Personally I ask for both, as I also tend to get better quality opt in's this way rather than just padding out my auto-responder account with email addresses that dont convert.

But hey! that just my approach. Hope what Iv'e said has been useful though!

I think sending personalized emails helps out a bit and honestly if it's a good squeeze page giving me something I'm really looking for (or think I need) then I don't mind giving my name. If it's completely cold traffic then email only, but if it's slightly warm traffic asking for the name shouldn't hurt and honestly might help with conversions when you send them a personalized email.

If you don't have a reason to ask for a name then don't ask for it. If you ask for a name just to begin the email with "Hi, Name" then it's not a good idea. People know that you aren't personally sending them the email and the name in that email can actually have a negative effect.

For a higher conversion rate single box opt-in is the way to go.

I actually just recently wrote a long article about the subject. You can check out my blog if you want to read it (don't know if I can actually link to the article in the post, but you can find the blog in my signature)

Email but I've heard the decrease in personalisation (i.e. not getting their name) can decrease open rates and increase unsubscribes.

Test it and let us know for sure

When I switched from "name and email" to "email only" my opt-in conversion went up by between 12% and 15% across a range of different niches.

Other people's figures I've seen have also been in the "+10%-to-15%" area, for the same thing.

In my opinion (based mostly on what subscribers across a range of niches have told me, when I've asked them), it's generally a mistake to use people's first names in outgoing autoresponder emails anyway: it makes you come across like an insurance salesperson and a lot of subscribers instinctively mistrust it because it shouts "marketer" at them: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6123982
