Default Which ecover generator do you use and recommend?

Hi, I'm looking for an ecover generator so I can design my own ecovers and boxes.

I don't know and don't want to learn Photoshop.

I'm not a design whiz, so it needs to be somewhat user-friendly and easy to understand. Short learning curve would be great. Do step 1, step 2, step 3, step 4 Done! would be even better.

I'm not looking for anything free. (I want decent quality.) I would prefer a one-time payment, but will consider a monthly payment if I get enough for the money.

I am currently considering eCover Go ( eCover Go - Online eCover and Graphic Generator ). It's $240/year at $20/mo, which isn't unreasonable for what they provide (I could also do a bunch of covers and cancel, then sign up again when I need more covers, right?), but if I can find a one-off payment for something similar, that'd be better.

What do you use to make your ecovers and what would you recommend?

I've tried about 6 or 7 of these, and I've come to the conclusion that you just need to hire a designer. Software always ends up looking terrible in the end, and you'll need to find your own images and do basic editing of them anyways. Best to leave it to the pros.

I use photoshop & illustrator.
CoverActionPro is good if you are not a designer or if you want a quick cover.

Also, i could advertise my cover design service here, but i won't.

I just wrote an ebook that I needed a cover for and I opted to have it professionally designed. I suggest that you do the same as the cover is going to do a lot to sell your book. I went with eCoverArtist.com

Their packages are very affordable and I was very pleased with the service. I am not affiliated with the site, but I do highly recommend it.

So it looks like my choices are either outsource it or learn photoshop (Cover Action Pro needs Photoshop?)

Hmmm, limited choices...Looks like an opening...hire some designers who know Photoshop inside and out and form a company to do ecovers...maybe call it ecovers are us or something...

Thanks for the replys.

Hi Star69,

I found that making your own covers is a waste of time.

The problem is one can't be objective about their own work. At least that is true with my own work.

Website visitors can spot home made graphics from a mile a way, and they also recognize graphics made by a pro.

I use Web Graphics Creator from Laughbird and love it.

Web Design Software made easy by Laughingbird Software

I used their Logo Creator for years before upgrading to WGC which also does ecovers and more.

The software *has* crashed on me a few times -- but I like what it does so well that I've just learned to save early and save often. =:)

I was going to thank you but I noticed you used an affiliate link. Do you honestly recommend this software? I'd like to know because I'm also on the lookout for an ecover generator.
