Thought about traffic from quotes?

One of the methods I use to add a bit of spice and get a little traffic for a new site for free, is to add a quotes section, sidebar or page.

It's easy to find great quotes online for nearly any topic or niche and I think they add some value to some types of pages - just like they do in the signatures in the posts here.

There are inspiring quotes, deeply thought-provoking quotes, funny quotes, quotes you want to remember for social occasions, puns that make you groan and lots more.

What do you think?

I think it would be difficult to monetize. But I remember those quote a day
email lists from way back when. So someone must of figured out how to do it,
but it seems old-school to me.

Thanks for the response Warrior X. I don't see how you'd monetize quotes either, unless you had a lot of traffic and used AdSense or such. I've only used it, so far, to add inspiring quotes to sites for visual artists.

People do seem to like them though. Just a little thing, no big deal for SEO. But the little things do have a way of being synergistic perhaps?

that would be good. maybe a person would be interested once your quote is outstanding. but i think there's just a little chance.

Yeah its been done but it's popular and people love to contribute and add their own. It gets people involved and grows your list of quotes which can engage more viewers.

I am not sure how WELL I've been able to turn my quotes into actual dollars, but since I have a couple of Kindle books for sale, submitting my quotes to GoodReads has brought me tons of new readers and even made me a few friends as well.

I just started adding quotes at the end of some of my emails that don’t hard sell.

I learned this trick from Chris Farrell.

I really like that idea, I hope you don't mind if I borrow it for a few of my personal sites.

      Thanks!
