I am a big fan of sales pages that have a lot of hype Perhaps hype is not the word -- but --- maybe intense graphics and other fun stuff going on THAT is what sells me. I realize its hype. I think its FUN and I also think it makes the offer irresistable. I am not talking about lies or exaggerations. But excitement and fun. Are there any products out there that show how to do this in your work? Are there any people's sites who use lots of this that I can study? I like the Rich Jerk. That was the first product I ever bought. I loved that it had a cartoon spokesperson and was offbeat and strange. It was intriguing. THAT is what I want to do with my products. Can anyone send me some resources? |

I don't think I ever saw The Rich Jerk's salespage, but I suspect that it had a lot of 'The Rich Jerk' in it - in other words, he was just being himself. Which is what I think we all ought to be doing. Obviously there are some proven tactics common to most markets that it wouldn't be a good idea to abandon, but there are so many people following the same formula to the letter that it's sending the internet to sleep. I know of no resources, but I do think you should just be yourself - 'you got the power' |

Look for Eugene Schwartz's stuff - his ads usually made claims that really stretched credibility and I think drove sales almost because of the imaginative "what if" they could create in a reader's mind. Even if the product didn't deliver on the sizzle promised in the letter I think Schwartz usually promoted good stuff - but with a real carnival-barker spirit. Also on HardToFindAds there are some cool old comic book ads compiled by Ben Settle. |

Thanks guys Yeah I just think its more fun to buy something that is both info-packed AND fun. Yet I think the two things commonly clash, so maybe it hurts the sale. |

If you haven't checked out Joe Vitale's material yet, Oilman, you should. Vitale talks a lot about he was inspired by the over the top promotional flair of P.T. Barnum. I think you'd really enjoy his "Hypnotic" materials. You'll also find plenty of big, spectacular, hey check this out ain't it cool kinda gushing in the Gary Halbert Letter archives, online free. (He's got quite a bit of material about women, exotic cars, and money so you're sure to like it.) Regards, Allen |
