Has anyone else been hit really hard over the past 3 months?

Hello Everyone,

I have been doing social media for a long time now and I feel like the past 4months have been the hardest since i've started.

There seem to be so many updates going on and as soon as you find something which works, its taken away from you very quickly. As well as that it seems like the top social media sites are taking a lot of legal action against us.

SEO has also become extremely hard for me to.

AM I ALONE ON THIS? Or is everyone having a really hard time right now?

I look forward to hearing your responses and could honestly do with a good moral boost!
Kind regards
Jason

Dont worry much about SEO, honestly its gone back to the way it should of been all along. Provide quality content get a few people to share it and youll do well. If you start backlinking and doing grey/black hat methods your honestly wasting your time anymore. Stick to the basics.

    1. Great content that people love to share
    2. Make it easy for your visitors to share
    3. Basic SEO onsite factors

Honestly, you should probably pivot to adding REAL value through social media optimization. I'd pay for such service.

Your business is selling fake followers. Seems lame really. People can but the same crap at Fiverr.

Or if they were smart they would use Facebook Ads and pay $34 and get their own real interested followers.

If your referring to my signature site then thats not really what im talking about. Its more niche sites based on low comp keywords

Are they EMDs? If so things got tougher after the 'EMD update.'

If they aren't, don't forget that Google has been devaluing backlinks massively since last April.

You aren't the only one that has to work harder for the same. It's a constant battle with more competition showing up every day and almost all of them are using the exact same tactics.

The Micro Niche Site model has been under pressure for a long time now.

This model still performs well, if you do it right.

Would you say its time to get out if that industry or keeping plugging away at it?

I really think the MSN model is dead Jason. Google took away the 'boost' that EMDs used to get and they devalued 'low quality' backlinks.

If you think about it - that's the basic strategy everyone was using successfully.

I went the opposite route in October. I built a 'general review' website where I ended up covering Health, Dating, and Amazon and ClickBank reviews.

The advantage is that every thing I've done since October has been for ONE site. Now the site is getting VERY strong. 1,600 pages are indexed in Google and there are a lot of good rankings.

If I tried to rank a website for EVERY review I'm going after it would be much harder. I'd have to register a new domain and build low quality backlinks every time. That gets expensive - plus NO ONE can work on multiple websites and make them good.

So I'm happy I switched to a bigger site model and stopped goofing around with the other ones. I also had numerous MNS sites actually de-indexed in 2011 so that tells you what Google thinks of them.
