can i use comments people made in a thread in a different thread

Hi all

I was just wondering what the protocol is for using comments from certain threads in another thread.

I know you can quote in the same thread but copying the comments into another thread without permission?

I have pmd a quite few people asking if it is ok to use their comments but only 2 replied so far (they gave permission).

The threads I have been looking at all cover the same problem that people have with IM. I was always told "Look for a problem and find a solution"

I feel that my product will solve a lot of peoples problems I just wanted to highlight the problems people are having.

    I have seen this done and have never heard of complaints as long as you attribute who said what you quote.

    Most people also include a link to the other thread. Especially if it is relevant.

    Check out some of Alexa's responses where she provides a Wikipedia like list of related links and sources.

    Hi Anton, your mention of a product prompts me to wonder whether you're asking specifically about quoting from assorted forum posts in an advertising thread here, a WSO or WFH, or something similar? I think that would potentially be very different from the apparently much more general question you've actually asked above, don't you?

      hi Alexa,

      Yes I did want to use them in a wso on here. I am going to pm the people again and offer them my software for free if I can use their comments.

      Hopefully this will get a better response
