I know there is a free version of marketpress plugin and I 'think' there is a free version of framemarket theme as well. Search google for them...
Marketpress + Framemarket is a powerful eCommerce solution.

The Woocommerce plugin is free and there are woocommerce themes to use with it at woothemes.com that are free. Some are paid and a few are free.

I know you asked for a Wordpress solution but I have a recommendation you may like just as well and the cart is fully integrated with many awesome features that would take you hours to set up in wordpress. I use a company called Shopping Cart Software & Ecommerce Software Solutions - Bigcommerce for one ecommerce site I sell from. You can use your own domain name and just redirect your nameservers to them. They have a fully functional cart, options for coupon codes and gift card codes, some free ways to advertise, options to put promotions on your site like "free shipping for any order over $50" and all kinds of other goodies. The nice part is you just make a couple clicks and it's done. They have a lot of templates and they are all pretty nice. I've used them for two months now and the conversion rate from the previous wordpress page I was using has tripled.

    Good luck!

It has SEO abilities built in - things like tags, sitemap, and keywords and such and you can do all the off page SEO you like just like any other site. I'd recommend getting a free trial and playing with it a bit to see if you like it. I took free trials with about five different carts when I was looking.
