My plan and putting it into action.

I joined this forum a couple years ago and I occasionally lurk here and try and add some new knowledge to what I've picked up about internet marketing. I can't help but think that if I would have stuck with it the first time I would be very successful right now. I guess there is no need to regret that now. I'm here and I'm taking action now.

I've decided that I'm going at this for real and I'm not going to stop this time. I knew if I'm going to get into this and stick with it I'm going to have to be supporting products that I enjoy. I also know that trying to take shortcuts and trying to get flaky artificial traffic will lead to problems along the way. So I'm going 100% white hat and I'm going to build my own blog and products from the ground up. I'm going to be selling and promoting something that everyone can always use more of. Motivation and positivity. I've started my blog at www.themotivationallife.blogspot.com and I've already got two posts up. I've started writing articles on article sites and plugging my blog to try and drive some traffic to it.

I tried installing Google Adsense but they denied me for some reason. Haven't quite figured that out yet. I'm not sure how I'm going to monetize this yet. The best idea I have is to build a real following and come out with a really great ebook that I can be proud of and sell it on Amazon. My blog traffic should drive me some sales.

I need to set up some way to subscribe on the blog so I can start building lists. I did set up the facebook and twitter for it though. I followed a lot of motivational speakers and tried follow my would be audience. I quickly discovered that twitter doesn't like it when you start following a bunch of people at once. I'll work it out as I go.

I chose motivation because I really enjoy all of the stuff I'm subscribed to and read everyday. Not to mention I've changed my entire mindset due to stuff like that and I love it. I keep my ipod loaded down with self help stuff and I think its great. If I can do that for someone else I definitely want to. I'm really looking forward to this project.

If you guys have any suggestions for me please let me know. I'm really a newbie and am just trying to put all of the pieces of the puzzle together. I'm willing to put in the work, but sometimes I get stuck on where to go next. I guess writing better and better content is always a good way to make progress.

Good luck to everyone else in your ventures. Reading about everything else you guys are trying and achieving is always more motivation to keep pushing forward. The android app is great and helps me check in a few times a day also.

Sorry for writing a novel everyone. Just felt like my lurking days should come to an end.

    I can't see your blog.
"Sorry, the blog you were looking for does not exist. However, the name motivationallife is available to register!"

You could update your signature though because all are no longer exist!

I just wanna tell you that most of the links in the signature are trash and/or a trap to make you pay!

Before you go any further please take a look at a thread I wrote a little earlier this month: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ne-basket.html

Don't build your main business site on someone else's platform!

I also know that trying to take shortcuts and trying to get flaky artificial traffic will lead to problems along the way.
So why set it up on blogspot?

You need your own domain, otherwise you'll never monetize it.

Sounds like I need to get this thing up on my own site. I'm going to do that before I get too into it. Thats for sure. I'm going to consider diversifying my efforts, but I don't want to spread myself too thin on here.

If you're affiliate marketing, start with 1 blog and only start another when you're ready.

It's not worth moving into a second niche if you cannot make money in the first.

    1) Awesome subject, I love the motivation idea and it seems you love it so you got the bull by the horns my friend.
    2) As others have said, stop work, buy you a domain name from Godaddy, buy hosting from Hostgator and be on your way.
    3) You said "So I'm going 100% white hat and I'm going to build my own blog and products from the ground up." I agree to a point but really everyone uses some sort of black hat, even if it's just badmouthing the competition... Your right, you don't want to go hog wild on shadiness, but a little bit sprinkled in just makes things taste a bit better

On 2) there may be better options than GoDaddy or Hostgator, they're just the best known. You might know someone if you think about it for a second. Try friends and family for hosting, they can offer you a good deal.

On 3), I disagree completely. There's never any need for shady purposes and, in fact, it may make your business fail in the long run.

Direct targeted traffic is far better than SE traffic anyway, so using article marketing is a great way to go.

Writing articles for article sites doesn't work very well these days. It's still great for backlinks but not for traffic.

Video is working great for traffic right now. Try to see video sites like youtube as a article site. make a video's from your articles. give it a try and see what happens.

    (great niche btw)

    Good luck!

I disagree, btw. It's just your articles need to be better than they've ever been. They need to entice, engage and educate with exceptional writing. And you need to evaluate and execute your sole aim.

It just requires more thought. The rewards are possibly even higher.

Just wanted to give people an update. I have followed all of your advice. I bought the domain for my website and I'm working on getting it set up. I'm working thru the Joomla learning curve. It's not that hard, but getting things the way you want take some tweaking when you are just starting out. After watching some videos on youtube, I'm starting to get the results I want. I'll probably be working on that on the afternoon this week and hope to have a nice looking site by next weekend.

I'm also working to kind of build up the social networks. Thats going to be a big part of this so I'm starting early. I've got a social.me page and have started creating accounts on the networks that make sense to do so. I'm also going to have RSS Feed and an email subscription newsletter for this thing.

I was thinking about goal setting and its importance in success of a project. I think I need some way to measure my success and keep myself encouraged about the project. Ok course, in the beginning I don't expect money to be the gauge of my success because this will sit at $0 for a long time. I'm thinking something more like this.

By April 1st I will have:

*Completed the design and implemented all of the main features of the site.
*Achieved 50 likes on the Facebook page.
*Acquired 100 likes on the Twitter page.
*Gotten at least 1 person to comment on one of my posts.
