How do you make your webpage load faster? Bluehost pro package?

Most of my websites are loaded with tons of images so I think that is one reason why they load slow, more than 10 seconds (really bad)...

So what is the best image size if you are going to put a lot in one post?

I am thinking of upgrading to PRO ACCOUNT for my Bluehost hosting, it says it will make my sites load faster, but its $24 a month, have you tried this? is it worth it?

No account is "fast" enough if the webmaster lacks the basic knowledge and puts up 1MB pictures...

Learn (use search engines) how to reduce the size of the images that are meant for web display: reduce physical size, reduce resolution etc.

  • Martfay,

There is not a “best” image size but rather you must display images in the same size as they are in their original file. So for example if you have an image that is 100 pix by 100px and you make the browser shrink it down to 10px by 10px when the page loads, this makes things take longer.

You can test your site here and Google will tell you exactly what is slowing things down,

    Hope that helps you,

As mentioned above, your images must not scale by html tags because it'll increase the queries amounts. Moreover, you could optimize your images by saving for web in PS or using Yahoo Smush It to optimize your images.

If you don't want to reduce the quality of the images use large thumbnails on your page (you will still need to re-size the thumbnail images) which link to the full size high quality image. This way your page will load fast and the user can decide which image they want to see in all its glory.

I would check to see how your sites load on other computers. It could be your cache that

needs cleaning or you could need more bandwidth. Try this before upgrading.

Poorly optimized databases can slow your website down. If you're not sure how to do this, simply run a Google search on database optimization for the lowdown. There's literally hundreds of ways to make sure that your databases are optimized for maximum performance.
