Seeing how well the Clickbank product "Maverick Money Makers" is doing (aimed at total noobs), I'm thinking of starting a new project/site that is aimed at total noobs i.e. the kind of people who would type in "make money online" into Google. Now I know that it is pretty much impossible to rank for "make money online" but I'm keen to hear from people who have targeted this sector of society and how they have gone about it. Is building a list a good way? I would prefer not to do blogs as I don't like the overhead of having to regularly update. A static site with a few pages would be OK though. As it is aimed at the total noob, perhaps a nice landing page advertised on the Adwords content network might work? Can anyone share what has worked for them? Obviously I don't expect you to give away the farm but I'm interested all the same. |

lol no. In fact, if you are on this forum then you are not a total noob, by definition. I'm talking about people who know nothing about making money online. The kind of people who type "make money online" into google. |

OK I figure I'd look at the Adwords listings for "make money online". No idea if these people are even profitable - could be noob PPCers for all I know. But there might also be long term bidders who are profitable. Anyway, this site is one that came up: http://www.fast-cash-system.com And it has a lead capture system. After you type your details in, it goes here: http://www.fast-cash-system.com/congratulations.html And it tries to make you believe that you can win at roulette by doubling up each time!!! This is ridiculous! Anyone who knows basic casino probabilities knows that this is a losing strategy! |

I've gone after total newbies in the past (a few months ago - the product was "how to start affiliate marketing)... personally prefer selling to people that know what they're doing somewhat, people that have some basic grasp of IM and the things involved in it. The problem I found was that you have to make your product really detailed (the one I sold was over a 100 pages and covered every little thing in detail) and even then you'd get a lot of 'silly' questions, questions that you'd think stupid because your knowledge is about a billion times what they know. "What is a blog, what is Wordpress, why should I blog and so on". They do have a LOT of questions. The positive I found was that you could charge more - people were willing to pay $47 - $67 for the product with less than 1% asking for refunds, and they also didn't have that 'sense of entitlement' that many slightly more experienced buyers do... they didn't expect you to reply instantly and so on. The time taken on support was a lot though, I had to outsource it in the end. As for ranking in Google... another thing you could do is buy reviews on those that rank for the term... example Carlocab.com is first page and charges $100 for a review that will go out to 13k subscribers.. Good luck. |

Thanks Jason, that's interesting what happens on the expectation level you mention there. I checked the Adwords listings on "make money online" (from the UK) and 3 of the listings are for this casino thing. I fail to see how it works unless it is a free bonus play - I know that with bonuses there is such a thing as a risk free profit, however they seem to be suggesting Martingale to me which will never work. Anyway, what I have learned is that their technique of appealing to total noobs is to emphasise how easy it is to "get rich quick" with zero effort. Appealing to instincts of pure greed! Now I need to think about how to capitalise on this instinct but ethically. I'm thinking that promoting "build a business" or "learning material" may not be such a good idea anymore. |

Building a list is great if you want to target total n00bs ![]() ... now the way you handle that list is a different story. |

Hi Product Creator, From what I have seen, the most successful systems for this market are - a) push-button (don't have to think) EG cookie cutter hosted site templates, semi-spammy/simple techniques - traffic exchanges, basic link building b) allow them to earn money (or rewards) but the things they promote are incestuous - IE - like MMM, they promote the product(s) itself as an affiliate c) even when they never actually receive anything, people are 'turned on' by watching things grow (oo-er) - EG downlines. Many will pay money to add more to their downline once it has grown - even if they are yet to receive any hard cash. These themes seem to run through all of the longer lasting/successful ones. Some of the systems that are most surprising to us here, are the most successful. Take a look at some of the more famous MLM scams - people were drawn in droves to traffic exchange type systems where they could sit there, brain turned off, getting paid to click a mouse. People are drawn to push button riches likes flies to dung. No offence to Stone, but PIPS has elements of a/b/c above - I'm not bracketing it in with those MLM scams - just the self-promoting, cookie-cutter, push-button and downline building aspects. |
