Amazon Associates, how are you doing there and do you have any tips for beginers?

Hey guys,

I recently started a blog in health/fitness niche and joined Amazon Associates. What is your experience with it? Any tips to make more sells?

Hello, I have tried Amazon with little success.

I did make one sale, but it was only $0.55 and otherwise it has been very slow. It took me about 2 months to make the $0.55. I still promote it on my site though.

Maybe you will have a better response in your niche.

    Good luck

Not so encouraging What's your niche? Maybe there wasn't enough traffic to your site?

I've been promoting Amazon Associates links for about a year now. As intrepreneur says above get your keywords right and you should do well. In my experience you have to actively target certain products on each page unless you've got lots of traffic.

I haven't touched my pages for ages now and they still bring in a reasonable income every month and of course people always buy other stuff from Amazon even if the commission rates are lower.

            Good luck

One of the things I found that worked when I was more actively promoting Amazon was to have a mixture of offerings.

For example, target popular books, CDs, movie releases, video games, etc. with the aim of selling a bunch of them to move you up the commission structure. You won't get rich, but you'll make a little and you'll pick up some add on sales when people add items to make the free shipping threshold. For example, I order a $15 book and add a $10 CD for my wife rather than pay $6-8 shipping.

The other part of the mix is high-dollar items, particularly in product groups that don't cap your commission. I used to know a guy that concentrated on industrial equipment. Even 4% on a $2,500 tool is still $100. Sell enough little stuff to get that rate up to 10% and the commission jumps to $250.

Another strategy is to target capped items (like electronics) just under the cap. If the cap is $25 commission, target items up to $2500.

I hope this gives you some ideas...

Amazon has been hit and miss for me. It has really only paid off when promoting specific products. As far as having a content site/blog that also has Amazon ads on it, I have had much success at all with that.

Amazon sales are directly related to the amount of targeted traffic you get.

I'am doing ok, its nothing to brag about. But I have heard of people making lots of money (thousands) every month. It all goes back to the amount of targeted traffic you get.

Guys, here's some food for thought...

1 - Not all traffic is created equal.
2 - Keywords are the 'key'.
    3 - Less is more.
    4 - Multiple sales.

Think about those things and you should be on the right track!
