Are PTC sites a good source of traffic?

I own 8 websites with a person, my partner is currently using paid traffic from a PTC site.

Do you think it is a good idea?

It could give you traffic, but the quality is very-very low.

  • Alexa Ranking of my sites are increasing in a rapid manner. One of our sites is now ranked #503,427 in Alexa Ranking.

Do you think my sites will get hit by Panda and Penguin?

No one cares about Alexa rankings, which are heavily influenced by IM marketers. Does having an Alexa ranking mean diddly for making money? No. Pay attention to how much you are making and not whether some "ranking" is going up because you are paying for useless traffic.

Never run traffic to your SEO based websites from PTC site.
You are putting your money site at risk.

Traffic from PTC site are good for list-building and for sites that are independent of Organic Traffic.

Yep Khooster is spot on, if you have adsense or some similar program on these sites - be very careful

No one can really say if the traffic will convert because it totally depends on your niche, generally the traffic is considered lower quality than organic and non paid to click/visit traffic

I agree, Adsense doesn't like PTC traffic. So if you have Adsense on your sites, you are risking your account. Also, PTC traffic is not targeted traffic. So don't expect to earn from that.

PTC sites are bad sources of Traffic. People views PTC sites to get paid. They hardly have a look at the content of the advertiser's page. Total waste of money with no conversion at all.

You could do well with PTC traffic if you sell some kind of PTC bot! Or even if you once owned a PTC site like me.

A lot of mom's start with PTC sites when they start thinking about making money online. I use PTC sites to send traffic to my women targeted sites. Like my jewelry store or my furniture store or my kindle goodies. Yes the turn around is slow but considering that I get like 3000 clicks for $10 or less and the average sale is $150 it's more than worth it. Just be sure that you know your target and the site you buy adds from is within that target.

    Good luck

It has its purposes but its mostly for lead capture, other ptc sites or even some making money online niches to collect leads. They might not be the best leads but its just one way to drive traffic fast.

Those kind of traffic providers are usually give you traffic but no sales... It is only useful to get a bit better rankings on search engines like Google. You may rarely get 1-2 sales from 100 000 of visitors who came this way.

And where are you pulling those numbers from again? I think you just made those up. There are too many factors involved with PTC for you to say whether a niche is going to convert or not. And for the record not all PTC networks are created equal.

I found PTC traffic was not very targetted for getting sales.
So in my early days I mainly used for list building but stopped
because the quality of leads mainly just gave me freebie seekers.

If PTC is not good then what is the best way to drive targeted traffic and increase sale?
And what about Traffic Exchange sites? Do they also affect the ranking in google?

Think about it. What are the demographics of your target market? What do they do online? How can you reach them? Your job as a marketer is to put targeted ads in front of interested people.

PTC and other similar traffic sites don't allow you to do that.

I would avoid them if I were you.

        Think about it...

PTC means Paid to Click. No clickee, no money. While I'm willing to allow that some niches and some PTC networks may be different, my observation is that people in these networks are interested in getting paid to click things.

        As Pedro said above:

Your job as a marketer is to put targeted ads in front of interested people.
If you can do that using PTC, more power to you. For most people, it will be a colossal waste of time.

The exception might be if you have some juicy cpm ads that pay you more the per visitor than it costs to buy clicks. The problems with that are a) if your advertisers don't see returns, they quit buying ads and b) this kind of arbitrage gets into a charcoal grey ethical area. Let you conscience be your guide...
