I would just add a popup to optin for a free report. At least then you have captured the email address of people at least mildly interested in your product and from there you can periodically email them about the features of your product or upcoming products etc etc Check out this script at hypergurlDOTcom/popup.html |

This is a great question. I think some of the posters arent sure what you are asking. The OP is asking if affiliates would be turned off from promoting a CB product if it had an optin. The fear from an affiliate standpoint is, how does the HOP get tracked. I want to know the answer as well. There is a product I want to promote, but it has an optin to a newsletter. I am afraid, I will have my HOP stolen. So, I do not promote the product. On one note. I used to promote NetDetective. The only way people can use net detective is to enter their email address, first. I never had any problems, and made sakes with them. Given that, it seems affiliate links can be tracked. Question is...Do all CB Vendors track them? |

Sure, there are some unscrupulous marketers who will use their own hoplink in their emails but the vast majority do not. Unfortunately, if an affiliate is misinformed you will not get the opportunity to reeducate them. Case in point, a new PPC affiliate of mine said in an email the other day to me "You are very wise not to have a pop up or a request for email on your site. Affiliates are wising up and realizing that vendors are robbing them of their sales after the hard work of promoting the products." So a lot of affiliates think this way, even though they're wrong. And for this reason, I have no email opt-in. Also, I believe some popups are not liked by Adwords. Or is that Adsense? The only popup worth having is a type of exit redirect offering a discount, not really a popup in the normal sense. These can apparently increase conversions, not sure if it is bulletproof but we have all seen them, they are popular. Something I will probably do is to promote a subpage of my site, an exact copy of the main page but for my own promotions. I will stick an DHTML email opt-in on this page. My affiliates have nothing to worry about because their hoplinks pointing to the main page will never see this opt-in. This opt-in will be a private page of my own and only linked to by myself. | |
