Best accounting software to manage internet business

Hi,

I am in Australia and was wondering if there is any feedback on what financial software package people are using to run their businesses.

Thanks in advance.

I get my accounting done with one of the larger and better known accounting firms in Sydney. They recommended this one to me: Online Accounting Software. Free Trial, Free Support | Xero

It allows you to have your accountant login as well and look over or work on things if need be.

I haven't had a chance to give it a proper test though but might do so this financial year when tax time creeps up.

    Thanks WillR,

As a start-up it might be a bit pricy, but knowing something like this exists is also good.

All good accounting software will be quite expensive -- just the nature of the beast.

If you are only working in one currency then there is a simpler and free alternative: Accounting Software | Online Small Business Bookkeeping Services - Outright

I started with that since you are able to import all of your Paypal transactions and other expenses right into it. Since I really only deal in USD it was useful to me. But if you are working with a load of different currencies, might not be the best solution for you. You'll find the programs that allow you features such as multiple currencies are all quite expensive.

Your other option is to just do excel spreadsheets. That's what I used for my first few years online and it was enough for me.

Thanks for that link Will, this is just what I was looking for. This is a massive help coming up to the tax year end.
        Cheers!

I agree with Will, I use XERO for my business and would strongly recommend it,

Sure it could be a little pricey if you're just starting out but it will save you a ton of headaches with all the features it offers

This can be used FREE for quite a while as long as you don't require multi-currency and its a good application. Its cloud accounting too, so no downloads. It supports many countries' currencies individually, unlike some other accounting packages. Being a Chartered Accountant and having used a few other packages, i can say this is okay for the price => FREE

==> Kashoo | Simple Cloud Accounting

    Hey,

Just crosschecked and discovered that since the last time i used it, these guys have now put a lid of only 20 transactions per month on the FREE version. Guess they were getting far too many interested users.
