My godaddy sites are either "This webpage is not available" or "internal error", however their own site loads fine. Does anybody have the same issue or is it just me?

Have you contacted their support department? Mind posting your URL?

You're paying for a service - you should contact them now to find out why your service is not performing the way it should be. It's not a good idea to just sweep it under the rug...

You are absolutely right, but I don't feel like making international calls and waiting on the line for 15 minutes. So I opened a support ticket instead, got this message - estimated reply time 21 hours. For now, I just have to wait

I have read that nobody here likes Godaddy hosting much. I started using it since for a beginner it seemed easier to get the domain and hosting from the same place. I guess I will have to start reading about how to transfer my site elsewhere. Last year they also had some major blackout, not good at all.

21 hours!?! Holy cow! I am sorry, my opinion will sound biased since they're a competitor of mine, but that is insane. I'd suggest looking elsewhere for a provider that spends less money on advertising and more on their support staff.

The Web Hosting Offers section would be a good start. Just be sure to choose wisely & read those offers thoroughly.

Agreed - go get an account over at HostGator and forget about GoDaddy.

Also note that just because GoDaddy.com loads doesn't mean your website will - they aren't on the same server.

I wouldn't even buy a 99 cent domain from Godaddy, you may want to try and find another web host, heard bad things about their hosting.

May seem like simpler but it really isn't. I find the whole control panel in Godaddy unfriendly and of course if you use the "free" accouts given with the domains you do not even have a WordPress installer.

I can't comment on their service as I never use the hosting exceprt for testing products.

I do however use them extensively for domains and have no issues at all.

Move to Hostgator and keep your domains with GD would be my advice.

Try no to host your sites with domain companies.
There are lot of complications especially renewing the domains.

I use hostgator for years for their great live-chat support.

If you need some personal touch to your hosting, i would recommend you find a hosting company of medium size. The one i always recommend is Stablehost.com. however, you can find countless good hosts at the shared hosting section of webhostingtalk. Hope that helps.

    Thanks everyone for your comments.

@DonnyBoy - did you describe the incident that happened last year or was it again last night? I know last year there was talk on twitter it was an anonymous attack and later Godaddy gave store credit equal to a full month's hosting.

Anyway, I know that Godaddy is not best for hosting, that's why I have been using hostgator hosting for most of my sites, just the first 5-6 are still hosted with Godaddy. Considering I had a difficult time finding out how to ad my hostgator nameservers there, I don't want to think what happens when I try to transfer my sites. (Un)fortunately, on of these Godaddy sites are doing really well and I don't want to accidentally take it down or cause any harm to it. I guess I will have to hire somoene to do it.

BTW, it's the next afternoon and I haven't heard back from their support yet.

What is your incident ID? Email support can take the timeframe mentioned by you above depending on the nature of the issue and how many requests we have already. More than happy to look into your hosting speed issues though. Send us the ticket number and we will have it reviewed. ^Colby

I know EXACTLY how you feel.

Godaddy have been having a problem for a week now.

I was told they couldn't tell me:

Why there is a problem, when the problem will be fixed!

I asked about being moved to a different server, then was told I would have to move it blah blah...I am unimpressed by them. I thought they were one of the best?

Thanks for your concern. I haven't heard back until now, but my sites are loading fine now. I am looking into other hosting offers.

Also, the number of my websites keeps growing but I only have two shared hosting accounts, on in Godaddy and another in Hostgator. Maybe you can recommend some hosting providers where I could get as many different IPs as possible to divide my sites but one that is cost friendly?

Well, I'd personally focus on content vs a bunch of different IP's. Remember, the IP's may be different, but they all take the same network path to get to the same server..

I'd definitely recommend a reseller account however, HostGator limits your account by storage/bandwidth "allocated" vs what you're actually using.

If your reseller account has 50GB of storage and you create 5 "10GB" packages, you will hit that cap and cannot use any more even though your total "usage" may by only a few gigs. Something to keep in mind.

I cannot recommend our company because we do not provide additional IP addresses unless it's for an SSL certificate however, all SSL certificates are free on our reseler plans. (with our new plans coming out soon)

I use Godaddy and when any type of issue arises, I "telephone" support, and usually get to speak with someone in under 5 minutes. As someone mentioned above, submitting a ticket will get a response, however waiting 21 hours to receive that response is much too long a wait time imo lol:rolleyes:

It's funny how hosts (and there are a few) that think they're making it simple, actually over-complicate the whole thing horrendously, making it more rocket science than rocket science.

There's a webhost (not GoDaddy) that advertises on TV in the UK about how simple their hosting is to manage. Now, I'm a programmer with 32 years of experience and I have never come across a more complex, convoluted and vile interface in my puff, that makes it impossible to do the simplest of tasks.

IMHO, you simply can't beat the standard WHM/Cpanel interface as used by countless webhosts of which Hostgator and Liquid Web (my long-term preference) are examples.

    Cheers,

    Neil

Same here, I did have issues with them years ago, but since they went to 4G, nothing but smooth sailing.

Now if you use their Windows hosting with php and WordPress, You will have issues, but that is natural. IIS and WordPress do not works so good together as far as performance.

I'm sorry, but their 4GH is a poor excuse to fix their massively overloaded servers. Anyone with any sense knows if you need load balancers added in front of shared hosting, you've got bigger problems.

I have used GoDaddy once and I am afraid my experience was v poor...my site seemed to load reasonably ok when accessing from an external source..However, when I logged in directly and started creating a WP site, it was taking up to 5 mins after I clicked Update to make any changes...luckily I have a colleague who runs his own dedicated server and I transferred the domain name across....creating/updating my site is now very fast.

To be fair to GoDaddy, they were quick to respond but said there were no problems..my view is that they are probably ok to use for simple web pages but be warned if you want to build a site etc that requires constant changes etc (like building a WP Sales page etc)
