Am I doing this right?

In an effort to finally take IM seriously, I've launched a new website of mine that features both blog content and video content. Each blog post consists of a few paragraphs and an affiliate link, as well as my video review. I also embedded a newsletter sign-up form in my sidebar.

Would you say this is the right approach? I have 6+ years of YouTube experience, so I'm looking to hit the road running. If I'm allowed to, I can reply with my website's link.

Seems pretty good. Videos do make a difference.
Remember it can take some time to see a real difference so just give it some time and keep adding more content in the mean time

Also build some social pages (facebook/twitter) and start getting some followers.

If this is going to be a strictly a product review site it might turn out pretty decent.

Google loves blogs that update regularly and videos are ranking very well right now. So it sounds like you have a pretty good combination there.

I would throw in some non-review content as well though to get some more readership. Build up the authority of your blog and it will be easier to rank new posts in the future.

What you've said is very basic and if that's all you are doing then I don't envisage much success. What's your promotional strategy? How are you getting traffic?

There are actually a 101 questions that still need to be asked but it would take all day.

I already have a YouTube channel consisting of over 72,000 subscribers. However, I've decided to hold off on advertising this new channel/website to them for a bit. A large percentage of the demographic I make videos for seems to instantly hate the idea of affiliate products, sponsorships, etc.

Do you guys think I should open up and reveal this new site to them ahead of time? I realize there will always be a few naysayers, but I can't afford to have "trolls" come into the mix and begin to hit the Dislike button on my affiliate review videos.

    Hi there,

Th site is good! It looks really high-end! Well done!

The plan you have there is good and I think what matters now is consistency! Since you have lots of experience with Youtube, I'd definitely use that and DIG IN SERIOUSLY! Beat the competition, make the best videos and become an authority! Crush them lol!

Newsletters are good too and from experience, I'd say it's important to make sure you update your list regularly but well done and good luck!

    Yoan
