Squeezing More value from your list- great tips from a high end course

Most marketers focus on building a list, then hitting that list hard to get as much money as possible, until prospects unsubscribe.

This is NOT the best way to go about things, if you have a valuable niche. You need to work with more sophistication to "milk" as much value as possible from every subscriber of that list.

Yes, autoresponders are good, but they can be more effective if you go "advanced".

1. Use an informational autoresponder series that keeps them interested- most of us are doing that.

2. Don't send them the "watch video 2" or "read article 2" link until they watch Video 1. If they don't watch video 1, send them follow up emails until they do watch 1. Then, the link for video 2 comes.
The reason is, they are not ready for video 2. Not educated to that level yet.

3. Track all the links they visit from your emails. If they click on Pitbull dog owner tips, they go on the pitbull list. If they click on start your own dog grooming link, they go on that list.
Segmenting your list in this way allows you to send out more TARGETED emails, without overloading everyone else.

4. If the value of a customer segment is high, drive higher response rates by sending an SMS text or postcard.

Doing this is a no-brainer, everyone with a high end product should do the above.
THE PROBLEM, WHY I AM SHARING THIS:
-Not many systems allow you to automatically switch from autoresponder series one to two once the user watches a video.
-Or allow you to send a sms, or trigger a postcard to be sent or phone call to be made.
-Or allow you to add someone to a category automatically when they click on a link in your email OR your website.

Infusionsoft may be the only deal out there that does this, and 2K up front may not be appealing to you if you are starting small. Plus, Infusionsoft is quirky and often takes away big features like split testing.

Question: are there any services that do the above, plus product orders, besides Infusionsoft?

I came accross greenrope.com in a google search, will test them and others, but it seems Infusionsoft is the only "big boy" that does it all. Hoping I'm wrong. If you have ANY resources or experience searching for alternatives, please post here.

You appear to be confusing the term "marketers" with "blinkered, short-term-thinking opportunists".

Ha! You may be right. But honestly, many "marketers" do it that way from what I've seen. For WF type products, I'd say it's over 50%.

This idea sounds like something I can add to my software. I don't think many of the people commenting are understanding what you are talking about.

I already have software that can control many of the functions of any third party autoresponder. This is even something that could be made as a stand alone product.

I have a hit ticket product launch coming up later this year and does give me an idea with this principle.

The idea you are trying to communicate is that the autoresponder will not send out the 2nd follow up message untill an action like watching a video to the end has been completed.

You want to drip content only if the first part of the content has been completed with an autoresponder. I know how to do this with any third party autoresponder I believe.

    thanks for this idea.

    Best regards,

Segmentation and tracking based on emails opened, links clicked, emails NOT opened and so on is very important but it takes a lot of work and can be difficult to comprehend for a lot of newcomers but well worth it when you get your head round it.

It also allows you to send out more RELEVANT content and offers to your list because instead of just sending everyone the same stuff you send based on stuff they've shown an interest in before which leads to higher open rates and more sales.

Most of time, I send follow up emails to non email openers to let them know the mail again. This way, i get more response and less unsubscription rate too.

Another thing a lot of people don't seem to do is re-mail important messages / offers when they should. If someone opened an email but didn't click then re-mail them but with a slightly different email and see if they click the second time. If someone has opened AND clicked they've shown a good level of interest but they might not take the desired action (i.e. buying for example) right there and then so re-mail that email to them for a second time and see what happens it often takes a few times of people seeing / being offered something before they will buy. If they didn't open at all it doesn't mean they are definitely 100% uninterested in the content of the email it can mean that your headline didn't entice them enough or even the mail got lost in their junk folder or clutter of their inbox so re-email with a different headline and see what happens.

OK, yes, you are right I probably needed to spell things out a bit. Still wrestling with finding alternatives to Infusionsoft that do most of what I need.
Here's a message I got from Greenrope, so it looks like they might be a "contender".

Yes - this is very possible with our system. While we don't have direct integration with video, we do have the ability to manage conversions and take action from those conversions on a webpage. If after watching a video, you can launch a page that displays the appropriate javascript to trigger the "contact x watched the video" conversion, everything you would need to do is possible.

The way it works is to set up conversion tracking within your GreenRope account. This is under the Website > Tracking > Automation area. You would define a conversion code that would add someone to a group and/or remove someone from a group as a result of completing that conversion (watching a video, clicking a link that brings them to a particular webpage, etc). Since each group in GreenRope can have its own drip campaign (even if that drip campaign is just one email), you can have an email sent out as a result.

Currently we only do email drip campaigns - we're working on the ability to send SMS and postcards through drip campaigns. We have that functionality to do that on-demand, but not automatically yet. Expect that in the next month or so.

i use infusionsoft for this and it's great

you could also try officeautopilot because they allow the same thing

i tried both and frankly much prefer infusion

i was really turned off by their "set up cost" but in the end their system's just a lot more powerful and allows you to do what you've mentioned here plus a lot more

    Hey legrandbagley,

Thanks for this thread. I have been in the IM world for a couple of years and this is the first time I have come across this thought process.

I have had a few lists that I have let fizzle out because I did not manage them well. Not sure how to resurrect them even though they have not unsubscribed from my list and not sure how to get them interested in further offers without a ton of unsubscribes.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks again for the thread.

    John
