Somebody copied my eBook and placed on their blog post

So basically I was alerted by somebody who said that they had seen my eBook in a blog post.

I investigated and found that yes, a few words changed here and there, it is basically a stripped down version of my eBook that I sell within my niche - it even has the same headings and I can see some of my own sentences within the rewritten post - even the example are just tweaked a little.

My question - what form of recourse do i have here, if any?

Is there software out there that i can copy and paste my eBook into, and then copy and paste the blog post into to instantly see if there is a percentage of copied material?

Anybody been in this situation?

Yes it is called copyscape. That sucks that someone would do that but it happens a lot. Contact the blog owner and ask them to remove it. Check to see where the site is hosted and report it to the hosting company as a copywrite infringement. If they are on godaddy those guys will shut their hosting down.

You can try to use copyscape or grammarly for sites that copied your content.

If you are the original writer of the eBook and you can prove it, you can contact the website owner to remove the eBook from his / her site.

If he / she doesn't want to do it, you should contact to his Web Hosting company and they will shut the website down if you have the required documents.

A DMCA notice. The basic info is on this page, but a fold or 2 down.

This don't know if this will do it as a percentage, but if you have Word 07 or later, you can compare 2 documents. Paste yours into 1.docx (name it anything you want) and then the copy into 2.docx.

Open 1.docx, click on the review tab, then compare > compare > compare 2 versions of a document > browse to pick out the documents.

It will show you every change made in red. Anything taken away from the first document will be in red with a strike through line. Anything added will be in red.

If they are in the same country as you and you can prove you wrote it - just find a lawyer and sue them for it. If people think that it's so damned funny to steal other people's works - show them how hilarious it is to get charged for stealing and distributing it. To me a DMCA is just too damned nice. They don't need a notice that they stole something - they already know that.

First step is to ask them nicely to remove it.
It may have been written by someone else and they don't know.

If they don't then take other steps as suggested by other people in here.

This happened to me too and the blog poster replaced all of my affiliate links with his own.

Definitely contact the blog owner and tell him to stop. I simply sent a polite email and the blog poster complied.
