How to get kindle ebook sales for new book?

My new kindle ebook is live, the format is a bit messy so I want to sort this out. I am new to ebooks. What should I do to get sales? My ebook is about repair the ps3 console. I've set the price at $1.99.

Should I expect any sales from Amazon site, or only from promoting it myself?

KDP and KDP Select are two different things.

With KDP Select you enroll your book exclusively to Amazon for a period of 90 days. In exchange they allow Prime members to borrow your book and you earn a royalty. Plus they allow you to give it away which when done properly can boost sales.

Huh? - being in KDP Select alone does not simply mean you will get sales.

My advice - try Select out for an initial period then get your book out there on other platforms, Smashwords, B&N etc

Most think that it was God who created man in his own image but it was us who created God in ours.

Having a book on Kindle without any outside promotion is like trying to get noticed as one minnow in the ocean. It's unlikely.

You must sort that out, because if you don't, and make a few sales, someone will leave a "review" commenting that the formatting is messy, and that might do great damage to its future sales prospects. This is a disproportionately important thing to fix - and quickly.

As Alexa said, a messy format will not do. People will not be happy and rightly so and this may be reflected in your reviews.

To get sales you will want to promote the book. This will help make it more visible at Amazon. For example if you get a few sales your book may show up in the "customers who bought this also bought this section" - this in turn can result in even more sales.

Also write more books and link all the books together in the back of your book. They will help promote each other.

After you develop an audience you will not have to promote as much. On my last book for example, I did not do a free day or any other promotion (except to announce it) but it jumped into "Hot New Releases" and enjoys good sales because customers who purchased my other books bought it and this has a snowball effect.

Like others have said, fix that formatting immediately. The last thing you need is a bunch of bad reviews because of the formatting of your book. It won't matter how good the content is either.

I'm looking into this as well. Check out the mixergy interview with Hollis Carter from Velocity House which was posted just a couple days ago. I found it very inspiring and informative.
