How much would you pay for the full rights to a product like this?

Hey everyone,

Quick question... I'm negotiating to buy the rights to a product in the IM niche that is currently off the market.

The owner of the product sold about $10,000 worth of copies in the span of two years and took it off the market because he didn't quite resonate with the IM niche.

I'd like to take it over and sell it with a different angle in the personal development market - its a mindset and achievement course that was created by a guy who built a 7-figure business in a non-IM market.

I asked how much he wants for the full rights to it and he asked me to make an offer and I have no idea what to offer.

Any ideas on how to work out a reasonable buying price for the rights to this?

    Difficult to advise you.
We don't even know the product you are buying.

    Think in the ROI perspectives.
How many copies you need to sell in order to make back the fees?
You need to include the marketing costs, time spent, as well as opportunity losses.

Order a ridiculous low price to negotiate up.

My take: Don't even bother to buy the rights. The information is probably dated by now.

If you do not want to post the product, feel free to pm me and I will let you know what I think.

The personal development market is very tough. Most people having success there have made a name for themselves and have extensive lists. One thing you won't have is the luxury of selling it here. You can try but motivation stuff doesn't fly in this environment. Instant riches stuff does.

I wouldn't go much more than a couple hundred bucks, if that.

Sounds outdated to me, but I don't know what product it is so I can't advise you too much. You do need to really investigate the current market demand for this product before you make an offer.

    Was there a third year?

Making 10k in the span of two years sounds like a complete bust in my opinion. I wonder how much was put into initially. When investigating a product you need to determine the demand for it and if it can bring you a feasible return. Like others have said, the personal development niche ils a tough one and you gotta know your stiff to take a piece of it.
