Promoting Info Products With The Gurus

Hey all,

I just got an email from Ryan Deiss (okay not one email, but more like three or four per week) and this week he's promoting the Amazing Selling Machine - a product created by two guys I have never heard of.

How did they get Ryan to affiliate to and promote their launch?

More importantly, How can I get Ryan, and the other gurus with lucrative lists to promote my product?

Do I have to attend a networking event? Do I have to enroll in one of the guru's programs?

Everyone is always suggesting cross list marketing. But what does it take, and how do you actually go about finding other marketers to promote your launch or your offer?

I am working on an info product that I believe would be nearly impossible to SEO. I believe the only way to make it work is to market it to other entrepreneurs. But I'm not sure how and to whom I should reach out ...

Thanks in advance!

    LOL Alexa.

They might not have necessarily handed him a wad of cash but they probably networked with him, have huge lists of their own, promoted and sold some of his stuff to get his attention then he returned the favour. It tends to be how it works.

If the shoe was on the other foot. What would it take for you to promote others products/offers??? That is the way I like to look at it.

    Alex,

So when the big gurus all promote the same product at the same time, it's a case of that marketer paying off all of the lists?

How much do you think it takes?

You can build your own list too..

Create a site and integrate it with getresponse or aweber.

Drive targeted traffic from forums, SEO, PPC, social media, press release, videos and many others..

It's a consistent and steady process, don't forget to hire a good copy writer..

They must either have been a loyal member, had huge lists, or paid him off. Usually a numbers game with the big guys lol.

If you're seriously asking the question than you probably don't have the right strategy already.

The only way you're going to get a 'guru' to promote your stuff is you have tested absolutely everything and you can conclusively show them what you've already got is a winning offer of true value that they can simply copy and paste to their list.

Anything short of this and you're wasting their time and yours.

Guypeleides - Thanks for your response. I see what you are saying.

    Here are my thoughts:

In the case of the Amazing Selling Machine, it doesn't appear (at least not on the surface), that these guys are doing much marketing outside of the guru lists. I don't see youtube videos, seo, or ppc (at least not for the term "how to sell products on amazon" which is what this system teaches). Now this is nothing against their system - I actually think it's cool and may work. But I'm wondering how the heck they got on Ryan's list and if they had any strategy beyond affiliate marketing.

There are some products that people are not actively searching for. For example, before this video, I never though to search for "how to sell products on Amazon." However, if you place these products in front of a relevant audience, then they may convert.

So if you're not using youtube, google, or ppc, or any other type of search engine to market, then you have to rely on list marketing.

If it's so difficult to get the bigger gurus to market your product, how do you find lists that are more willing? Is it worth buying consulting time with the gurus, buying their expensive products as an "in" or attending some of the big conferences to meet them? Is there a good place online to find and pitch relevant list holders?

As a side note, it seems that most of the big gurus are not doing any seo or ppc. It seems like they all just rotate each other using their own lists.

In this case, I think it's all about relationships and a nice juicy affiliate commission.

I'm sure the product is high-quality, too - most of these guys can pick and choose which offers they promote, so the product HAS to be high-quality - it's their reputation on the line.

I happen to know that the Amazon FBA model (that is promoted in this program) is kicking butt right now and it's about time someone sounded the horn to show people how much faster you can make money with ecommerce than with IM.

Don't get me wrong, I love IM, but it is definitely a slower train to financial independence than is ecommerce. (and with IM, if you do it right, you end up with residual income - can't beat that!)
