I'd appreciate anyone's help with this please. I'm not sure why or how this happened but I was working on a website for myself and it seemed to be looking fine until I changed the name (can't remember what it was) to "index". Suddenly, the pictures were replaced with that blank box with the red x in it. I haven't tried to ftp it yet but only working with it with 1st Page HTML editor. I then tried renaming it again but still no pictures. I checked the html code for these images and everything is still the same. Really baffles me, can anyone explain this to me? Is it that I have to wait until I actually ftp to a hosting a/c and then send the images separately? If so, do I need to resize the images to the size used within the html code? How did changing the name to "index" cause this?
Still learning so much of this!!! Thanks so much for any help, really appreciate it. Going round and round trying to learn all this with various tutorials. Frustrating but I really do enjoy it!

I do not think that is the cause of the problem. When images are not showing, it is likely to be the path is incorrect.

Without looking at your code and path, will not be able to tell why. What you can do is to check the image path.

    Example:

    <img src="images/abc.jpg">

That means you have a folder called images and the image filename is abc.jpg.

You will need to verify this to see that it is correct.

Hope this helps! If you want, I can help to check your code.

This was something that drove me crazy at the beginning.
Make sure you image property location and link location match up exactly.

      For example-Image Propeties ../images/cats.jpg
      Link Properties youdomain/images/cats.jpg

Then check that all of your images have been FTP to your images folder in www or public_html

If you have the path to image, copy it to browser see if its showing or not. If so, substitute it in the HTML code

Wow again! You people are really fantastic with your qucik replies! Sorry I forgot to mention "stamin" in my last thanks. And another big thanks to Auriana for hers too. Haven't tried to ftp anything yet though, just working with the 1st Page HTML editor, which by the way is a great free tutorial from "easywebturorials.com" if anyone is in need of a really good video learning site. It allows me to "preview" the site as well as editing it using html code. And, as I said, when I previewed it before changing the name, it was fine but when I changed the name, the images disappeared!!?? Will try the tips I've gotten from above and see what happens.
Thanks again to all! Will let everyone know how I do.

YEA!!!! I FOUND IT!!! Thanks to Ed, Stamin, & Auriana! It was a broken path! Your advice had me recheck it again and sure enough I had changed more than the name of the site page. I moved my images to a new folder as well and forgot I did so.
Geez!!! So simple yet kept overlooking it and would have probably have continued to go round and round without seeing it if not for your help. Thank you all so very much!!!
Hope I can return the favor to you and/or others sometime soon. Certanily don't have the level of expertise as all of you but will try with whatever I can.

Hey, thanks so much ed for such a quick reply! I'll try checking the path again but am pretty sure it was the same as before I renamed it. Could I just delete the code and retype it? Would I just type the code here for you to check?
    Really appreciate your help.

This works extremely well on the DirectAdmin control panel as well. I've mentioned this a few times and no one ever seems to believe me(!) I feel like heading back over to the web design forum, digging up that ftp thread, and putting in a link to your post. You look really honest, maybe they'll believe you.
