Default Strange FireFox Bookmark Snafu

Hey Gang,

Does anyone have a problem with deleted bookmarks coming back in FireFox after restarting the program?

I deleted a bunch of outdated bookmarks this morning, restarted FireFox and they are back, LOL

Tried it several times this morning and each time I restart it, they come back.

Has anyone else experienced this, any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hi Scot,

I started using a new FF plugin called xMarks which works with FF to manage and synchronize bookmarks.

I wonder if installing such a plugin would help you better manage your bookmarks.

I really have no idea why your bookmarks are coming back, other than a cache issue where you delete them, but something else is displaying what is in a browser cache.

Sam

PS: Thanks for reminding me to be at the EAA show this summer! I've missed it for a few years...

Hey Sam,

I used "Tiny Menu" and that has the same issue, it's the strangest thing.

I try to get out of town during EAA, this town is a zoo when you go from a small town to the busiest airport in the world for a week

I do try and get to the show each year though, it's fantastic to watch.

Scot,
Fortunately, you are not the only one with this problem. The below link has your solution...
Fix: Cannot Delete Firefox 3 Bookmarks

Cheers,
Sam

PS: Before "testing" BACK UP your actual book mark folder. Make sure you're not backing up the IE bookmark folder --double check to make sure you backed up the FF one.

Success, Sam

Hey Sam, thanks for the help. Much appreciated. Drop me a line if/when you come to Oshkosh.

I could not get those suggestions to work, a techy I'm not, but this one did work:

Can't delete bookmarks

Since Scot found his answer, maybe there's hope for me.

Since the last update, whenever I open the browser, the first time I click on the Bookmarks menu button, the "save bookmark" box comes up. Once I cancel out of it, the problem disappears until the next session.

Not earth-shaking, but it's starting to annoy me.

Any ideas? FF help was no help...
