This actually brings up a very good point, I think.

At the moment we have a thread called 'Warrior Forum Rules' that has only a few of the Warrior Forum rules inside it. We then have a second thread called 'New Members: Read This' which includes a whole load of other forum rules such as not posting a thread asking why your thread was deleted, and so on.

I've seen this same mistake before where the OP has probably read the thread called 'Warrior Forum Rules' and rightfully so assumed that contained ALL of the rules for this forum.

Would it not make sense to have all of the forum rules in the one thread called 'Warrior Forum Rules'? If not then even just having a link in that first post of the 'Warrior Forum Rules' thread saying more rules can be found here and linking to that second thread?

I think it kind of defeats the purpose having a thread called 'Warrior Forum Rules' when it doesn't infact include all of the Warrior Forum rules. I imagine it would be confusing for new members.

      DM,
I've had post's nuked that haven't even remotely came close to breaking the rules.
Some things are learned in our early years, and aren't assumed to need written into rules for a business forum. "Work and play well with others" comes to mind.

You have a tendency on occasion to become nastier than is needed or useful, and to persist in the nastiness for post after post.

        DM,
I couldn't possibly agree with that. That only happens if I know I'm dealing with a pure idiot.
The fact that someone disagrees with you is not, in itself, a reasonable basis for calling them an idiot, "f'ing" or otherwise.
And it's not "nastiness", it's called "debate".
There is a useful distinction to be made between debate and abuse.

          DM,
          Why not?

CDarklock does. His post's don't get nuked.
Actually, he doesn't call people idiots just for disagreeing with him. Even if they disagree strongly, and he seems quite sure he's right and they're wrong. He tends to reserve his not inconsiderable firepower for people who get unduly snarky with him first.

It is easy to have a rational debate with Caliban, and disagree with him vehemently, without any need for the discussion to descend into abusive terms. I know. He and I have disagreed strongly on many occasions without that sort of thing entering into it.

That said... Ask Caliban how many of his posts I've nuked over the years for crossing those lines. Or how many times he's been banned for it. If I see them and I feel they're unconstructively abusive, I delete them. Regardless of who posted them.

He also tends to say what he has to say and not hammer the same point over and over in a thread, or across multiple threads. That matters.

There is always a reason. I didn't see the thread in question, but if it was an SEO topic in this section, you answered your own question. And proved you didn't read the rules very carefully.

Very odd, there was a very good thread by a fellow who wanted to learn how to make 10 bucks a day. It was a very good thread and I intended to comment on this morning. It was up about an hour ago, now it's gone.

Agree with Paul, you probably started a thread in the wrong forum.
For example: if it was SEO related you should post in the SEO forum and not in the Main forum.

    Will,

    Good point. Thank you.

I think "New members: Read this" in the stickies section should be pretty clear, but I've added links to the main rules post for folks who aren't familiar with general forum practices.

Do NOT use the help desk for this sort of thing. That is not what it's for, and Thomas is unlikely to be the person who deleted your post. (Possible, certainly, but the odds are against it.)

I can't speak for the other mods, but if I find out people are wasting Thomas' time with this kind of trivia, I'll give them a month off for it.

I would also recommend that you not give advice on how to resolve questions here if you haven't been a member long enough to know what is and is not acceptable yourself.

      Excellent idea!

But for newbies only, i suppose its mainly newbies that have posts delete, because they have not read the rules in the first place.

But surely it only takes a minute or for the mod to pm the person and let them know.

At least the person gets to know why and does not post the kind of thread again

If you haven't read the rules....maybe you shouldn't be posting yet.

Having a thread deleted is a simple warning of "wrong section", "bad topic", "duplicate thread" or "rules violation". Best to accept it and move on. It's happened to all of us at some time or another.

Or you can rant and argue and try to re-post the same thread and demand explanations...childish behavior that may earn you a time out.

      Erm... NO!

Why should the moderators waste their valuable time to
send PMs that teach people the rules?

The solution is to READ THE RULES and follow them.

That way, new forum members eventually learn the rules
using their own time and effort.

I'm grateful for the work that the moderators do on this
forum and wouldn't want to see them wasting their time
      educating the ignorant.

It's not only newbies who get posts deleted. But they are the ones who seem unable to shrug it off without complaining.

But clearly the OP was simply posting seo topics (likely rehashed) in the main forum and not in the designated seo forum.

He didn't do anything seriously wrong except complain here. Which is also against the rules.

And to send an email with an explanation for every deleted post? That would be a LOT of work for admins. I'll bet most people here don't even see 90% of the posts that get deleted from the amount of spam I see come and go.

My goodness! I don't quite understand all of the hoopla over a deleted post. It happens all of the time for so many varied reasons.

      6. Remember that threads get deleted for lots of reasons, most of them having no reflection on the original poster. They can be nuked because they're the umpteenth copy of the same discussion in a short period, because they're on topics which too often degenerate into flame wars, because they have nothing to do with making money, because they're pointless, because they tend to drift into bashing, and lots of other reasons.

The thought of the mods having to send a pm to each and every poster is just ludicrous. Are there even that many minutes in a day? Some threads that get deleted have 2 or more pages with 50 posts per page. Do you realize how many members that could entail?

If your post gets deleted and it hurts your feelings, just go cry into your pillow until it is thoroughly soaked and come back feeling better...just like I do. Haha!

Warrior forum is one of the Top Forums on the internet which is known for its neatness and cleanliness as well as Spam free.

There is nothing on the earth that will make the moderaters or the admin go crazy and delete posts anyway.

There must be something in your post that makes the admin delete it. And Better than Asking admin through new threads, you should Optimize your post as it meets the forum rules requirements and Both the admin and you will be cool.

    Perfectly said!

However, not that much for the reasons listed above but because even if the mods would send an email/PM to the offending member... it would result in endless exchange of messages: the deleted party would NOT agree with the mod (of course!), would demand further 'explanation' etc. etc. etc.

That's why we don't get any announcement - PM or otherwise - from the mods when posts/threads are deleted. Plus, in this way we don't even know which mod deleted it, so there won't be personal attacks

Let me rephrase the OP's question...

"Would the admin that outsmarted me and figured out what I was really trying to do please tell me how he figured it out so next time I can outsmart him instead?"

Come on man ... if you really think about it you'll figure out why it was deleted. Heck, even I've had threads deleted that when I POSTED them I didn't think much about it, but after seeing it disappear I realized why it was taken that way.

Maybe we should have a "Sandbox" forum. You know, like PayPal. Sorta like training wheels. This would be where new members can post and become accustomed to how things work here. Then, after having a hundred or so "clean" posts they can graduate to where the big kids play. Maybe this forum would then return to: Where We Talk About Making Money
