Looking for a script or program

I am helping some people in my town open a restaurant and I am looking for a script or software that can do online shift scheduling.

Anybody who has worked in a fairly modernized restaurant in the last several years knows what I am talking about.

The employer adds a profile for every employee and then adds the weekly schedule. Employee's can sign on from anywhere and see their work schedule and offer to trade shifts or pick up extra shifts.

It is going to be a local restaurant so there is no corporate office to turn to.

Does anybody know where I can find something like this?

Google searches turn up thousands of results but none of them really seem to be the online based system, just overly complicated excel programs.

Thanks for any tips,

Rebtl

Many years ago, I had a tech support job for one of the largest retail chains in the country. They had a program on each manager's workstation that provided this scheduling functionality. It would take the availability of each employee, calculate a preliminary schedule, and let the manager move shifts around. It was only for the manager, though, no employee login or shift swapping functionality. And it was all custom in-house software.

Your idea would certainly be very useful to restaurant workers. Writing it would be easy to start, but perhaps challenging to finish because the features would have to be defined as you go.

Oh, here's someone who has beat you to it.

I found this with a Google search for "restaurant management software employee schedule swap shift".
