How Do I Block domain from public view

INTERNET MARKETING

I have a domain name which I use for hosting some private softwares. how do i block the public from accessing this domain cos when they type the domain they will go to my index page and they will see what is listed such as my software, ftp quota etc... Any help rendered is highly appreciated!

Just add a blank index.html file in your domain root.

I have a domain where I have sub-domains / sub-folders for various self installed apps. You can secure the root folder using a couple of methods. The one I recommend though is to create a .htaccess file, or edit the one in the root of the domain, and just add the following code. This will display a 403 forbidden notice.

Options All -Indexes

If this is a site you don't want anyone except you accessing ANY of the pages... Login to your CPANEL and password protect the root folder.

This will only let people that know your login name and password access anything on the site.

Password protectingwith .htaccess looks like the most feasible solution. Anyone who have the password can access the site. You can do it manually or easier, from the cPanel. You can also have more than one password, if you wish.

You'll want to password protect to prevent search engines from finding the files. Blank index and .htaccess help keep casual browsers from viewing, but some search engines will still index the files unless you password protect.
