Pen Names and Google Authorship

So, the Googles wants to really emphasize the author and his/her work...which is great for writers like me, but what if you have a pen name? I would prefer to have my more serious/factual stuff under my real name (since I write for an auto news site, amongst other things), and keep my pen name for some of my more controversial writings.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I would avoid any writing or commenting that I would not want associated with my name. For me the only time it could arise is if I want to write or comment on female issues. Then I think it comes across better from another female. I then discuss it with my business partner(female) and she writes it.
Stick to what you are proud of

Of course you can use pen names when you write and Google does allow them. However, they want you to sign up under your real name and then add the pen names. Not because they are a social network so much, but because they are in reality an identity service. So they want to know who you really are so they can use that info to build their services but to avoid flack they allow pen names.

When you mean "sign up", are you talking about Google+?
