Hostgator is for sale?

I have made a search on whois and noticed that hostgator is for sale. Check here: HostGator.com - Web Hosting Services, Reseller Hosting, VPS Hosting, and Dedicated Servers by HostGator.
What do you think happened. They are the leader since 5 or 6 years in hosting.

      Maybe they are cashing out while they are on top, it's understandable, they have built a reliable brand worth a fair bit of money and now they want to cash in!

    If they make the sale and I think that they will, hope the new owners will not change too many things around.

    That's funny. If HostGator wanted to sell their business, they would never sell the domain separately, and they certainly wouldn't put a for sale ad on DomainTools. That's probably some scammer posing as HostGator.

    It looks weird, they might want to sell their services, however I don't think that the new owner will change much with the platform.

      EIG bought Hostgator LAST SUMMER - reportedly for $225 million.

      I think the site you link to is a case of "anything is for sale for the right price".

        Opps, just noticing the sales stuff now, so Gator is that pricey. Yeah, i know it's worth millions and millions of dollar but not $225M. Why then would the owner want to trade it for cash.. Business expert advice i guess..:p

    looks like a good way of list building, they ask you to fill in a form before selling you hostgator.com
