If you have this problem as well, refer to post #11 in this thread.

Hi guys

So i asked before about another recording software, and was asked to use camtasia instead and edit my video there.

I already submitted a support ticket but they will only be online in 3 hours but i really want to get going with this so i'll just try to see if i can gain any ground here.. :p

So i tried to import but they give an error saying something about not supported media or cannot find codec ..

I tried pasting the timeline of my video and audio from activepresenter to camtasia but couldnt.

So i published the video in WMV and also tried MP4 and then imported it to camtasia but still to no avail.

Any ideas ??
Man i hate tech stuff.

You should be able to drag the WMV straight into the media area.
I am not sure about MP4 files though - the version of Camtasia I have does not support them.

I'm using v7 but I remember when I first started using Camtasia I think I had a similar issue.

WMV uses a default Microsoft codec but you need to install the Camtasia one (I think)

        You can find it here

        Downloads

        Worth trying

So i got help from the support team at camtasia and i must say its 1st class service man..

Anyways, this is their solution which worked.

Download handbrake, which is a software to convert video format into what u want.

            HandBrake

i felt so happy, thought i would share.

I just drag it into the media space.. then drop it down onto the bar below it!

Camstasia is awesome! Without a doubt.. easy to use and effective! But can be a royal pain in the ass!

    Good luck getting it sorted!

Okay so they replied me yesterday night and now i have to wait for 8 hours for them to reply me IF they do work on sats.

So they ask me to uninstall Divx and FFDShow, they say these are causing the conflicts with the camtasia..

      Any tech guys out there?

Will uninstalling these cause any other effects on other programs??

I dont want to be fixing 1 problem and creating another few problems.

If it is having trouble with specific formats, maybe you can find a free converter program out there that will convert your files into something Camtasia likes. The downsides to this are time and the fact that you have a tendency to lose quality from the original if you do a bunch of conversions.
