How to avoid duplicate content on my own site?

Hello,

All articles on my site are 100% unique.

At the end of each article I want to add a short paragraph about the Clickbank product I promote on this site.

I see competing sites that rank well that have two paragraphs of exact similar text at the end of each article on their site.
Normally, I should think this is duplicate content.
But they rank very well in Google.

I don't know how they deal with this.
I believe they treat this part of text different, but no idea how?

Do you have experience with this and want to share your thoughts here on the forum?

Thanks a lot,

Isaan

Once I had an article on my site. I gave some guy in fiverr to do backlink and he posted the same article on some site and it went past my original and to the top. I think the PR of sits is what matters.

As long as the main body of the article is different then it should not matter.

Since the articles are all different, one paragraph at the bottom of the page isn't really going to have a negative impact on SEO.

If you're really concerned, you could write a few variations of the text so every page doesn't have that exact same paragraph. Though I would only bother doing this if it helps improve the click through rate, by being more relevant to the content on a particular page.

I think Google penalizes site with higher % of duplicate content. If the content is 10-20% similar than its ok for Google.

That has nothing to do with duplicate content: that's syndicated content. The differences between the two are briefly explained in this post and this little article.

And how and why do you imagine so many lower page-rank pages are outranking so many higher page-rank pages all over Google's SERP's every day of the week, then? Or weren't you aware of that little detail (even in spite of its having been explained to you so many times before, here?).

By the way "sites" don't even have page-ranks, though their home pages and other pages do: only pages have page-ranks.

Google doesn't "penalize" sites for duplicate content at all (unless it determines that the duplicate content is a deliberate and flagrant attempt to deceive their algorithms, but that clearly has nothing at all to do with the issue being discussed in this thread).

Just a suggestion for you: it's better to have a look at things like Google's WebMaster Central Blog for yourself than it is to repeat all this stuff based on Google having some fictional "duplicate content penalty", because what you're saying here is exactly the way that these urban myths of internet marketing are perpetuated and propagated.

Ya I am aware even my recent website is getting traffic and sales for some long tail keywords and the explanation - I don't know. But I would also like to know (if that is possible) to learn why my original article is ranking way lower than the duplicate or the syndicate.

I know for a fact that Google doesn't penalize dup content on the same of different domain, i have a lot of sites with dup content on them and they do just fine... so a little paragraph at the bottom will not hurt your SEO in any way, shape or form.

Google doesn't penalize dup contentpure it. Don't bother with that issue.. try to multiply your content and send some good backlins (High PR) and you'll improve your ranks with the same content.
    Best regards

What you're asking doesn't make any sense.

Most website use what are known as "include files". These files contain the SAME section of text, imagery, video, code ....whatever, and they're sitewide.

Infact, the other sites you're talking about are probably displaying this information within an include.

In any case, if you're concerned about potential duplicate penalties (which is very unlikely, unless there's something you're not telling us) here are some suggestions.....

    1. Make each entry unique to that page. (most sensible)
    2. Turn that small section of text into an image
    3. Nofollow all of your outbound affiliate/payment links.

Probably because your site is newish? If it's that, then it's probably temporary, and will rectify itself as long as you continue gradually to acquire initial indexations of articles subsequently syndicated elsewhere. Or it could be because it's not-so-newish but has incurred the wrath of Google over some of your previous backlinking efforts. There's certainly a lot of that about, because people do like buying backlinks and seem quite oblivious to the damage it can do them.

You really shouldn't waste your thoughts on this...

Google is smarter than you think ;-)
They wouldn't lower your ranking because of this...
As long as you have unique content on your blog and no blackhat backlinking stuff you will be long term successful.

I'd just concentrate on writing decent content, as far as I'm aware Google aint particularly bothered about duplicate content, all they ask is its readable and informative
