What graphic software is used for Dvd paper covers?

What are the main graphical software used to create dvd paper cover designs?

(Where the measurements are included), which softwares are used ?

(such as what vervante require), so that they can mass print them and put them on orders?

Edit I am on about the 'editable' version of the file, where you can edit colours, layers, shift layers left right etc, by exporting it in certain formats?

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign, or a combination of all of them. Some designers might use CoralDraw, QuarkXpress etc, but the majority of professionals will be using the Adobe Suite.

They can. Illustrator works with vector graphics (print, media) and Photoshop generally works with raster graphics (web, photos). You need to export from Illustrator to a PSD (Photoshop) file.

An ai file cannot be opened in Photoshop. The two different programs have two different purposes and sets of features and thus the files will not work the same in both.

You can open up an AI file in photoshop. In fact you can have both illustrator and photoshop open and drag the file from one program to another.

You can export an AI file within AI to a PSD.

You can take layers from one file and move it into another.

If you use raster or vector graphics, you need to convert them to smart objects in the PSD file to retain the image data.

I think what he was referring to was creating a graphic in AI and then saving it in a format that you can import that finished graphic into Photoshop. But you can't import it as an editable AI file. So you can't edit the file in Photoshop like you could in AI. They are two different programs with two different feature sets.

Basically, you CAN open an AI file in Photoshop, but it will rasterize it to a flat uneditable image. Therefore you can't make changes and will have to use the image as it is, and add to it with the Photoshop tools.

            Or

You can edit the AI file in Illustrator, and export it as a PSD file. This will separate it into layers like the Illustrator file, but again its a raster image. This is an image that is made up of different colored pixels. If you increase the size of an object, you lose quality. A vector program like Illustrator is ideal for print because you can resize objects and they don't lose quality.

Because you have exported a layered PSD (Photoshop) file, you can edit it, move layers about etc just the same as a normal Photoshop design. You can also select the text to make changes, and change colors etc using the blending options in Photoshop.

I've only used the cd one myself, and in coreldraw, but they were fully editable. I don't see why photoshop or DVDs would be any different.

OK, you go into Office Depot, the sell the DVD inserts that are paper. Each insert type is different, but it has an avery program. Also, it had an avery code for you to download from the internet if you want to use a template with Microsoft Word instead of the program. I have the CD with the program on it and it works great. The template is a small digital download that is free as in zero cost.

Key is to use the correct template number with the proper paper. It is each to create DVD covers. Also, they look pro. For a small production of music this is max. I like to be able to scale up. This is a simple process. There is a product that Office Depot sells called the stamper that you might want to get, but there you go.

The hands down best programs for creating any print graphics are the ones from Adobe. We use Photoshop for all our graphics and we do our layout in InDesign. You should though also ask your printer what format they want the file in. Most printers now a days want PDF files. We create the layouts in InDesign, then export to PDF for delivery to the printer. If we need to make changes we go back to the InDesign version. But to be fair, I am talking about fully custom designs here, we don't use templates. If all you want is a basic design based on a template then almost any good graphics program can be made to work.

That isn't what the OP is asking for. I use those too, they are for 3D renders that you can use in an ebook, website or WSO. They are not for sending to a printers to print real DVD covers.

I did skim through his post and missed that part. Disregard my post then.
