Average unsubscribe rates in this IM niche?

Can any warrior kindly share their unsubscribe rates? I've managed to build a list but the unsubscribe rates are really high(about 15%). I searched on Google for average unsubscribe rates and it said it should be less than 1%. So I'm just wondering if i did something wrong or maybe it's just higher in this niche?

I'd imagine that you're trying to sell to the people in your list, or, you got them to opt in for something, and didn't deliver on the promise.

You have to ask yourself, if you were in their shoes, would you find the information you're sending useful?

There should be a very simple reason, and it's going to be because of something you're doing.

If you need some pointers on how to do things the right way, there's a link in my signature that will give you some nice tips. I also don't mind you seeing how I do things, and then comparing the information and quality of content in your list, to mine??

You must being abusing your list to get a 15% unsubscribe rate. Too many emails, promotions can kill a list faster than flies on crap.

That is certainly a very high unsubscribe rate.

There are two main reasons why your unsubscribes might be so high.

    1. The promises you make to get people to optin to your list are not being delivered. If people optin expecting something and you give them something else or you don't give them exactly what was promised, they will leave quick smart. You must deliver on your promises. Infact nowadays it's probably just as important to always OVER deliver on your promises. Give them more than they expected.

    2. You are treating your subscribers like numbers in a spreadsheet rather than real people. If your main objective of your list is to make you money then people will sniff this a mile away and will not want to be part of it. Focus on giving value rather than squeezing money out of your subscribers. You will quickly find the more value you give others, the more value you receive in return.

With an unsubscribe rate that high, you may even be doing both of these things.

What kind of emails are you writing to your subscribers and at what frequency? 2 short "MAKE MONEY HERE NOW!" sentences delivered every day?

And are you sure you are promoting what people signed in for? Maybe a better segmentation can also help you....

Btw a normal rate is far lower than 15%...
