Social bookmarking- articles? do they produce traffic ?

If you social bookmark an content article from your site, and submit it to Digg, stumble, reddit etc......

Which is a very good content article, with a killer heading

(like "How To make money on the internet, even if you are as young as 12" - where the title grabs peoples attention)

then

a) does this submission produce/attract a lot of visitors? -

b) can it produce a lot of email op-tins subscribers?

c) and can it produce alot of profits (if you direct that article page to an affiliate link)?

I know this is different for diff niches and articles, but generally, im sure John has tested submitting articles with 'killer body content' and a 'killer' title...

Anyone done/tested this above method, and can give some good results ?

social bookmarking articles can give you a little traffic, but I generally use it for backlinks

Generally, social bookmarking will produce traffic but in my experience the traffic is not of high value and doesn't converted to sales very much.

It could be better for opt-ins because they are not spending any dollars (never tried it though)

The crowd on social bookmarking site are usually in their teens, so if you want to make some money. The entertainments niche are the best way to go.

    a) Only if it's decent link bait that actually gets people to click on it. As such, use a title that's likely to attract attention... even if it's misleading. That said, don't use a headline that's got nothing to do with the article.

    b) Unlikely. People that use social bookmarks as a way of finding out places to go aren't interested in being long term or regular viewers of anything other than the social bookmarking site.
They're wanting fresh content, not repeated content from the same place regularly (the one exception seems to be icanhascheezburger)

    c) Highly unlikely. If you link directly to a sales page, it's likely to get voted to less than zero. If you link to some kind of info-submit page, you're likely to get booted from the bookmark site (if it's one that allows for it) or just get scrubbed by the network / advertiser for passing crap traffic.

An article linking to a squeeze page would get me booted from a social bookmarking site?

I think it is often hit and miss and timing as to what goes viral and what doesn't. Sounds like your off to a good start, with your title. Course I don't think the example you posted would go far, just my opinion, and maybe it's just an example

I have bookmarked many articles, mainly for my authors or my customers. It's the same as bookmarking any other site or blog. What you do need to make sure of is that you write up a great title and description, which means include keywords aswell as take action power words.

I will agree with Ron that posted above though.. It can be a hit or miss.. Nobody can tell you for sure as it will depends upon the networks used, the article or content used, and etc ..

I have done well over 330,000 bookmarks in the last 2 months and I think I have covered just about every subject and many different kind of sites. Some of those where articles from EZA, AP, and ArticlesBase and many of my customers have reported great results.

A few things you need to keep in mind is Authority Bookmarking, Great Titles / Descriptions, Power Words, and Keywords. Combine these all together with your bookmarking and being active in the communities will bring you a much better return vs just bookmarking a page and going on...

The only social bookmarking site to ever give me serious spikes in traffic was Stumble Upon. Others trickled some traffic at me but nothing substantial. I agree with CarlChollette in that social bookmarking traffic holds no real value.

I think you will hit more traffic if you do both social bookmarking article and backlinks.

I think the result for social bookmarking, depend on your keyword choice, and how to make a good article so we can invite much people to read and come again. But if we had much website, maybe social bookmarking is just to get backlink to increase website rank to google or others.

I very like your idea about capturing them with an opt-in box. 99% of the people from social bookmarking sites would be nearly impossible to monetize at the beginning, but send them a few emails and it's a different story.

Traffic will spike one day then plunges the next few days. I don't see it as a reliable source for traffic. Or maybe, I'm not doing it right... Don't rely on social bookmarking alone. Try other methods as well.

As far as my experience goes with the Social Bookmarking and Networking sites, I think "News" articles do well in Social sites. They use to get booted up easily, people use to read them and click on them and come to your site. But when you are experimenting with articles like "How to make Money" or say "Top 10 Internet Tips", the results may turn bad.
Generally I think people come to Social sites to find out some new things, so real "News" should be doing well and really they are doing well, from traffic to backlink generation. Now if you don't have a news then I think you can try these sites in your off-time to have some traffic and backlink. These can't easily be expected to be a great source, unless you are TechCrunch or similar.

If done right, social bookmarking can get
you a big volume of traffic, however I tend to
use it for backlinks purposes only.
I generate highly targeted from other sources
and by increasing PR backlinks I get more of
    it everyday.

Social bookmarking traffic is usually crap. However if you get into the popular/top lists, you can get lots of juicy links, which is great for rankings.

I just love everyone that post social bookmarking traffic is crap ... It may have been for you because you was not doing bookmarking properly, you think ??

Plug your website on a bookmarking site and doing true bookmarking is 2 totally different things... Your results are also very different.

This is a great list of questions to ask before starting a social bookmarking campaign. Having your friends on social bookmarking sites plug your content is huge, if you want it to go viral.

It all depends how you use it. You can make a great deal of traffic if you plan your course, and make yourself look appealing and professional.
