Default What about craiglist?

Hey everyone, i've never really used craiglist for promoting my business ventures but I just want to know wat the warriors here think about promoting online business opportunities on craiglist.

Is it worth it, has anyone here seen results with craiglist?

Thanks in advance,

Roger.

I haven't tried it. I'm not sure if you have to pay for something like that or not.

Craigslist is one of the worst places I have found...people are spam flag happy, the traffic is temporary, and anything remotely affiliate-based or commerical is against TOS.

They are just not in my marketing plan, except for purely local stuff like selling a used baby stroller. Nobody contacted me though, lol

Hey dndoseller,

Just depends on how you see things.

If I saw your ad on craigslist for a used baby stroller, I would have found you a buyer if you paid me a commission/finders fee.

Check out the video on this site.

I do not know about the product he is selling but I am very aware of the concept....it works.

It depends on what you are trying to promote on CL. Not all business model will work.

I have never had any luck with CL. Either no traffic or 10 mins after I put it up someone flags it.

With so many visitors using Craigslist each month the advertising possibilities are limitless; however, there are no guarantees any of these visitors will be interested in your products or services. Like any marketing campaign, your advertisements on Craigslist must be intriguing, informative and in a location where you will reach your target audience.

Craig's List is a great way to advertise, sell or buy. But you must be careful or you will get scammed. Only accept cash if you are selling anything and for projects make sure the money is in escrow.
Good Luck

In my opinion if you want to take the craigslist route be prepared to go into some blackhat also. Go with CPA offers and use a blackhat script to mask your refers and try to do it with a simple email submit offer. Find a topic that would interest a lot of people like how to make your car run on water and get a cpa offer with an email submit from something on that topic. Make them put there email before they can access the web page.

Criagslist in the UK isn't the big player it is in the US. Many things don't sell/promote well here. However there's a similar online classified site called gumtree here that works for many things.

That's true, if you are in UK you should use Gumtree, if you are in Canada use Kijiji

I use a service that posts 25 ads a day for 7 days - $150 bucks. what i am promoting is national, so i need the exposure. Craigslist has so many rules and they flag a lot of the posts, if you don't know what you are doing. And if you do know what you are doing, it is very time consuming. But CL gets a billions of visitors a month, so it is a good target for traffic. I think its worth paying someone to do it.

I haven't used craigslist for online promotion but I have for offline promotion. Worked great for me and a friend's bridal makeup business. I've read (as far as online promo goes) that the SF Bay Area and Orange County area give good results. Ad lasts for 7 days (w/ updates every 48 hours) in SF Bay and 45 days in the OC.

Hope this helps.

Craigslist is pretty much like any other advertising media - it works when you present an offer that is needed, wanted or desired by enough readers. Here are some tools that may help you.
